Original concept is based on a design by Sean Beck at TattooJohnny.com. Search criteria is Japanese Flag Koi.So here is the FINAL concept of my koi tattoo I will be getting hopefully by the summer or as soon as April. I found an AMAZING reference at TattooJohnny.com while tooling around the intarwebs for some koi refs.
The WWII circa Japanese flag caught my eye immediately and I had to incorporate it into my design.
Because I was born in October, I decided to add red maple leaves to the design and I think everything comes together sooo much better in this design than my previous ones.
I know its a crap coloring job but I didn't have a sharpener
so it's just gonna have to do for now.PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, Do NOT copy, steal, render, or repost this as your own. I worked very hard on this design and did a TON of research to do it. If you would like to use it as a reference or to use it as a possible flash, PLEASE ASK!

Yeah as soon as summer is over and I'm done burning myself to a crisp I'm gonna get it done. I can't wait to commemorate my life's story on my skin ~^^~

This koi reflects me in many ways. For one, Japan will always be a part of my life, hence why it is a koi and why it has the japanese flag design. Secondly, a koi in tattoos is usually depicted swimming upward, usually in completion of an incredibly hard task; My life isn't over yet and I still have many challenges to overcome before I'm done so its swimming down. Water has also been a constant in my life, my father is in the US Navy. Lastly, I was born in October and the red maple is one of my favorite trees.
I love your own koi design and the symbol for strength, they go well together but be prepared for the artist to tweak your design a little when he draws it up to put on you. I'm afraid that your second design might not turn out the way you'd want it to so it might be best to steer away from that on.
Look at a lot of designs and see what jumps out at you. Save the pictures and look them over and see if they inspire something in you that will make your tattoo unique and last a lifetime ~^^~

^^ I understand the meaning. Japan has always and I believe will always be part of my life. I drew my koi facing up, for the same reason but different interpretation.
I was thinking about that last night, the second design, it wouldnt look as good as a tattoo. good point.
Oh, Just curious, how do you mean that would tweak the koi's design?

He would just make it look more smooth and flow better with whatever part of your body you decide to put it on, thats all.
