Description This is one of my first attempts using luminosity masking. I LOVE this new technique!
But I would love even more to hear what you think! I want to keep improving and your feedback helps me do that!

This is a great quick, easy hike that's a short drive from home. It usually is busier than disneyland, but on weekdays in the winter you can find relative solitude here. Here's another photo of it, taken exactly 1 year prior to this one:Β

I think, thanks to the luminosity masking you have some very GREY areas. (Mid tones which are not supposed to be mid tones!)
There are areas in this photograph which (naturally!!) should shine: Light in the snow, light on the trees in the background, "silver" linings in the clouds.
I would recommend going to PS and to adjust levels (ALT button pressed, moving the slider for the lights to the left until you see something!).
I am aware that some lights are already at maximum (riverside with snow). These areas should be preserved from the level adjustment and I am sure the image looks much more dynamic!

The danger of dynamic range increasements is always in destroying the necessary contrasts (Dark and bright areas).
