Description
Just decided to bandy about some new ideas and concepts for character designs.
Since I decided to make Starfighters "Look" a costume rather than a form he transformed into, it opened up a whole new avenue of design since I was no longer constrained by certain story functions.
This design took inspiration from two sources- Alex Ross and Ultraman.
Alex Ross is one of the most popular comic book artists of all time, and his work has always been an inspiration for me. I always admire how his original costume designs took advantage of the entire body as a canvas, and would craft designs that would make a lot of sense in 3 dimensions. How they cut around the body to present a particular image.
The modern day Ultraman costumes from Tsubaraya always have interesting designs in regards of how colors are separated and broken down on the body. They may not have that simple and clean look from American superheroes, but the way the colors are implemented always present a striking image.
So with those two inspirations in mind, I came up with a bit of a refinement on Starfighters usual look that would ideally incorporate elements from both influences.
It's not meant to be a permanent change, just something the character might change into for a different look down the line at some point before going back to his classic look.
