What was it that didn't work with the action? Where you using a original photo or one that had been retouched?

There are tow different actions in the set. The one labeled Quick Antique colouring (no layers )works with the original file or flattened image and the one labeled Quick Antique colouring (layers) will work with a retouched image with layers. They were developed in CS 3, which version of photoshop are you using?

One reminder:
If you are not using English version of photoshop, some things in actions like changing to background layer may not work...

I'm using localized version of PS4 and in your action, part "choose layer 'background'" isn't working because there is no layer named background ...

Easy fix for that is that when recording actions, first thing to do is to promote background layer to "normal layer".

This sucks, I know...

... and to add myself:
Always rename layers, whenever they are raster/vector/effect etc. because localized versions of photoshop change names of any layer to localized version of names (f.e. channel mixer isn't channel mixer but kanavasekoitus) and photoshop chooses layers based on their names...
