Description And they call it puppy love.
---

“Phobos, I swear on all things…” Anna trailed off when Phobos slid his arms around her was. The heat of his chest felt better than the cool water of the spring.

“What are you doing?” she managed, tilting her head back.

Phobos hummed quietly and leaned forward, kissing the top of her head. “Am I not allowed to say hi?” he murmured. He kissed the crook of her neck, still humming some song under his breath.

Anna sighed and managed to turn her body until she was facing him.

They were in the spring that was attached to the back garden of the house that belonged to Ares and his family.

Anna didn’t know how she fit into the family life style, after all, if Ares wasn’t wanting to kill her, he was trying to marry her. His sons’ were no different.

Phobos wrapped his arms tighter around her waste. “I missed you,” he breathed.

Anna snorted. “Missed me?” she rolled her eyes. “You were only gone a couple hours.”

“I still missed you.”

The only reason Anna hadn’t slapped him for sneaking into the bath with her was the fact that he still had on the extremely tight pants that he wore underneath his armor.

“You’re a dork and you’ve now officially ruined my bath. Can you let go of me?” Anna stated.

“I go into battle – risking my life, mind you – and you’re worried about a ruined bath?” Phobos’ bright red eyes were shocked. He let go of her and shook his head in disgust. “Why do I bother with you?”

“I question that daily.” Anna swam away from him, towards the center of the spring. She dunked her head under water for a moment and surfaced. Her hair was down covering her face, she reached a hand up and brushed it aside. “Phobos?” she was surprised to see such a sad expression on the handsome face. “What’s wrong?”

“I watched some good men die,” he admitted. He pulled himself up out of the bath and sat there. The white stone and the water lilies looked so out of place against the scarred warrior. A man who brought fear into being just by looking at a man, and he now had tears in his eyes.

“Phobos.” Anna swam over to him. She reached out and touched his leg. “It was that bad?”

“War is always bad.” Phobos admitted. He closed his eyes.

Anna hesitated before heaving her upper body out of the water. She leaned forward and kissed his mouth before letting herself drop back down.

Phobos blinked his eyes open and stared at her, “did you just kiss me?” he gasped.

Anna kicked away from the wall. “You’re going nuts in your old age,” she called to him.

Phobos chuckled and touched his lips. “I must be…”

Gods are Weird.
--

“Ares, seriously.” The war god looked completely out of place in my modern living room. Clothed in gold battle armor, and dripping gold blood all over the place.

He stumbled and ended up on the floor, staring up at me with a pitiful expression on his face. “I got shot.” he commented dimly.

I stood there, my hands on my hips, completely and thoroughly annoyed. Not only had a hoped never to see the guy again, but he shows up and bleeds all over my brand new carpet.

“No shit,” I snapped. Part of me wanted to leave him bleeding on the floor. He was immortal so it wasn’t like he was going to die on me. But another part of me was the nursing student and couldn’t stand to see anyone hurt.

I sighed and shook my head as I walked to the hall bathroom and pulled some towels off the rack. I carried them back to the fallen god and knelt down. “You’re a jack ass, you know that?” I set the towels beside him as I reached over his broad chest and began to remove the straps of his arm.

Yeah, I spent to much time in Olympus. I knew how to remove the armor, that was proof enough.

When his chest plate had been removed I lifted his under shirt and studied the single gunshot wound to his lower stomach. “Your armor wasn’t damaged.” I commented dryly as I pressed the towel over the wound.

“Tech,” Ares managed to gasp. He had his red eyes tightly shut and was gritting his teeth together.

That name sent a shiver down my spine. Tech was one of the New Gods. A group of deities that had come into creation last year. It was because of them I had first come into contact with the Old Gods.

Tech had planned to use me to destroy the fabric of creation. A long story that involved a lot of painful memories on my part.

“What was he doing in the Middle East?” I asked. Part of me wanted to get the first aid kit, but I knew in a couple minutes he’d already be healed up. It was just a matter of him being able to relax for a bit.

“Trying to… get info on you.” Ares explained. He managed to sit up a bit, propping himself against my new couch.

My eye started twitching but yelling at him wasn’t going to do any good, he might try and fry me alive, that is, if my death wouldn’t lead to the end of the world. “So he shot you?”

“I surprised him.” Ares chuckled. “He didn’t think I would be there.”

“That was stupid of him.” I rolled my eyes. “God of war NOT being in the biggest war zone of today… jeez,” I got to me feet and sat down on the loveseat. “Why’d you come here?”

“I-I don’t know.” Ares swiped a hand across his face. “Shit, it was the only place I could think of.”

“You didn’t think of, oh I don’t know, going home? Bleeding all over those pretty tile floors instead of my tan carpet?”

“Jenna,” Ares shook his head. “Why do I bother with you? You’re hopeless!”
“Why thank you! I didn’t know that!” I laughed. “You’re acting like I asked you to come here!”

“You’re dim, even for a mortal.” Ares continued. “You really don’t know… a-fucking-mazing!”

“Ares, I have a gun in the kitchen. Do we want to test just how much damage you can heal?” I stood up.

“Jenna, I’m in love with you.”

Silence. My mouth was hanging open. Ares busied himself by checking over his breast plate.

Ares. Loved. Me?

My happy little illusion of life had just gone pop. Ares was supposed to hate me. He was not allowed to love me. He just wasn’t supposed to feel like that towards me. How was I supposed to react. Hell, what was I supposed to say to him.

“I’ll be going.” Ares said as he finished strapping the breastplate back on. He stood up, swaying slightly. “I’m sorry about the stains.”

“Ares, you jerk!” I stomped my foot on the floor. “You cannot just drop a bomb on my like that and say ‘oh, hey, I’m going home now, see ya in a year!’ it just doesn’t work that way!”

Ares cocked his head to the side. “You obviously don’t feel anything towards me, so why am I going to stand here? I’m not going to belittle myself by acting like a love sick school boy. I am in love with you,” he continued, “but I wont waste my time courting someone who can’t stand me.” He stood his head.

“You assume you know everything!” I snapped. “That’s what I hate about you Gods, you assume that just because you created everything you understand it all. Well, here’s a news flash, you don’t know jack shit about emotions! If you did you would know that I – I do like you!” my cheeks were red now. I’d just blurted out my darkest secret.

Ares started, surprise danced across his face for a moment. He coughed. “Are you done?”

“Yes.”

“Good.”

“Fine.”

“I-I’ve still got to go.” Ares rubbed the back of his neck. “But I’d like to see you… soon.”

“I-I’d like that.”

“Okay…” Ares coughed. “I umm… yeah, going now.”

I closed my eyes and turned away. A bright flash of light later and Ares was gone. Leaving me with a ‘did-that-really-just-happen-moment.’

Yeah. Gods were weird.

She's wearing a wrap (it's like something to wrap around your swimsuit) but designed to be worn in a group bath like the one she is using.

oh, ok... good, because the fact Phobos is like up right behind her, would be rather perverted if she where naked!

interesting. It's nice and acurate too. There's a Douglas Adams book about gods but of the norse vairity. It's called 'The long, dark tea time of the soul' It involves a private investigator at first trying to solve a murder and it leading him to the gods whilst a woman ends up in hospital and ends up meating Thor.

^_^ I'll have to find that one. Loki is my favorite god of that set. I just love, love, love reading about the old gods. They amuse me because they aren't set so high up that you can't understand them. They act just like everyone else. Ares cheats with his brother's wife, Zues has more kids than he knows what to do with and his wife hates them all lol. I just love it.

I think polytheistic faiths are interesting beacuse I percive god as a sort of 'hive mind' and induvidual made up of many beings I kind of imagine a bunch of deities siting at a great table bikering at each other. I'm probably going to have to write about that. LOL
