Description
Our ponies were exhausted.

We had run far and fast from the town.

I still had no idea why we ran away in such a hurry, but I had an idea that it had something to do with what I saw on the hill.

When we couldn't get the ponies to run anymore, we stopped.

We were in the wilderness. Under the cover of forest again.

Most of us had eaten at the tavern, so there wasn't a point to making a fire. Gandalf advised us to go right to sleep.

I was lying in between Kili and Bilbo.

Bilbo had fallen asleep very quickly.

I turned over to face Kili. He was lying on his back.

"Kili, are you awake?" I whispered.

He rolled over to face me.

"What do you need Scarlet?" He smiled a little.

I told him about what I'd seen. I still had no idea what it was.

He got a dark look on his face.

"Wargs. Or rather, orcs."

My eyes got big. Orcs? Following us?

"Don't you worry, Button." He grabbed my hand. "We will be safe. I know it."

My heart was still beating very fast. I'll be honest, I was scared. But I smiled at Kili.

He returned it and released my hand and turned on his back.

Hesitantly, I grabbed his hand again.

He turned his head, looking surprised.

I felt a lot safer holding his hand.

He got the sense of that, smiled, and closed his eyes.

I closed mine too, still very cautious.

We woke up and rode again.

I was behind Thorin this time. Kili rode next to me, as did Bilbo.

Everyone was on edge. Hardly anyone joked or played as they had before. They were on guard now.

Especially Thorin. He would look around all the time. His body was very tense.

I sighed. I was tense as well.

We came upon what looked like it used to be a house. Now, it was broken and burned down.

"We will stop here for the night." Thorin announced.

Gandalf got off his horse and walked up to the house.

"A farmer and his family lived here.." He mumbled.

"I think we should move on. We could go through the hidden pass." the wizard told Thorin.

"I told you before, I will not go near that place." He walked past him.

"The elves could help us!"

"A dragon attacks Erebor, orcs desecrated our sacred holes at Moria. What help came from the elves?"

Bilbo walked up next to me, he had a question.

"I heard you talking to Kili last night. You saw orcs?" He looked a little frightened.

I didn't want to worry him. I shrugged.

"I'm not sure what I saw. We moved so fast."

He looked a little relieved.

Gandalf stormed past us.

"Where are you going?" Bilbo questioned.

"To talk to the only one who has any sense anymore."

"Who?"

"Myself Mister Baggins!" He got on his horse and rode away.

We all watched him leave. Confused.

"Come on Bombur, we're hungry." Thorin said from the ruins of the house.
