The photo is made in 1985. Life in Yemen was simple and basic. Tourists were not known. 911 not existing yet.

Foreigners came for business, work, development aid. My work was to supply 2 hospital with Medical X-Ray equipment. This was funded by the development aid of my country.

In a weekend I had some time to stroll though the city of Sanaa. A mixture of most impressive buildings, smells of fine herbs, spices and food, colors and encounters between 2 cultures.

The people were proud to have their image taken and respect was both ways. Some men with loaded guns, but it was safe and I felt respected.
