Well, I think the word "panic" actually is derived from Pan.

I see Pan as a son of Hermes and now that I think about it, I think I actually drew him in one of the panels in my comic The Family Party. So he actually is born. ^^

In her defence, she wasn't snooping, she was cleaning. But she shouldn't have read the scroll.

That probably could work as an explanation. Though one thing that also confuses Demeter is why Persephone kept this a secret.

If you can start by explaining, why you're messing in Persephone's stuff, Demeter. And if you start with any "as long as you live under my roof" I swear...

You know, I actually have that exact line written down for Demeter somewhere in this conversation. Not sure if I will use it, though, since I haven't edited the conversation yet (usually I have more text written down than ends up in the comic).

Indeed!
oh, Demeter seems calm....Oh that will change! O.o
That bundle might as well be a anvil dropping, cause that's the only equivalent for how Persephone feels.
She'll explain, but you won't listen, or understand, or accept.

Demeter is not so very angry at this point, she's rather hurt and confused that Persephone obviously has corresponded with Hades without telling her. But, yeah, she probably wouldn't have understood Persephone's reasons.

Oh well, I thought she slipped past 'anger' into the 'slow, volcano' simmer, it's hard to judge Demeter's mood. She looked more, disappointed, angry mom to me, then hurt.

Yes, disappointed probably describes it better than hurt.
