Description Now Zeus knows that Athena is gone. Didn't exactly improve his day.

As if Zeus wasn't hard to draw already, I realized when I was done with this page that his expression in the third panel actually looked better in the sketch than in the inked version. I tried to fix it with my white pen, but it was useless. So what did I do? Inked the third panel one more time and glued it over the old one. I know I shouldn't be too much of a perfectionist, but in this case I just couldn't help myself.

So, Zeus discovers only now that Athene is gone? No offence, but this is s-l-o-w. Sucks to be him too, right now.

He was probably hoping that Athena would come out from her room of her own accord, but as the day passed and that didn't happen, he decided to try to talk her out. Only to discover that she wasn't there at all.

Do you mean that there is a connection between Hermes and Oden? I've never heard about that before (but I don't know so much about the connections between the Greek and the Norse gods at all). Tell me! ^^

I only know that Tacitus said that the god whom Germanic tribes worshipped the most was "Mercury". Scholars interpret the Germanic Mercury as Wodan, the southern Form of Odin. It's a strange connection, perhaps based upon very superficial elements: flying in the air, winged helmet, Psychopompus, travelling, maybe trade... So when Mercury= Wodan and Mercury=Hermes and Wodan=Odin one could say Hermes=Odin... but well... it's still strange... I'd rather connect Hermes with Hermod, as a sort of cameo of Hermes in the Edda. But they are bot also tricky gods (Odin and Hermes I mean).

Ah, I see. Thanks for the information. I agree that the connection is a bit strange, even if they have a few similarities.

I think he just came face to face with Hera!

One could almost think so.

Well, shit. I certainly hope he doesn't go searching for her and find her with Hera. That cannot end well.Β

Luckily he doesn't have a clue to where Athena could be. The only place that she has some kind of ties to except Olympus is Alalkomenae and considering what happened there, he figures that she probably not would have wanted to go back there.

Well, at least that buys her some time.

He probably hoped that she would come out of her room of her own accord some time during the day. And when that didn't happen he decided to try to talk her out.

I kniw that so very well, when the inked version is like "Whoa, is this the same drawing? It looks awful!" I would have done the same and I think it was worth the effort, it's a really nice page.

Thank you!
Yes, it's really frustrating when you've made a good sketch and the inked version end up stiff and lifeless. In this case I knew it would have bothered me every time I looked at the page, so I just had to remake it.

Oh, dear. I'd quite forgotten about Zeus. Dang, what's he going to think now? Probably that he drove her away, and he'll beat himself up even more!

It probably would be better if she hurried back home since the longer she's away, the more worried and angry Zeus will become.
