where did you get an opossum?

Many times when a female opossum is hit on the road and she has joeys in her pouch, the majority to all of the joeys normally survive. This is because the mother's pouch acts as an air bag for them to reduce the trauma they receive. Without proper care after the mother is hit, they will die though. So when I see an opossum on the side of the road, I never hesitate to check them for little joeys inside. The two females I have are used in wildlife education to help spread the world about this amazing creatures and to debunk many myths about them. The rest of their siblings were rehabbed and released back in to the wild.

Lucky you! I understand they're considered pests in the state, but I think they're so cute, and actually quite pretty with their shades of white, black and gray and pink extremities.
