Description Kintsukuroi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery through use of gold-laced lacquer resin. But symbolically, kintsukuroi is much more than that.
Kintsukuroi is an artful way of showing how a past event effects something in it's present state. It shows the cracks and the damage that that event caused, but rather than allowing that trauma to permanently destroy the object, it becomes an integral part of it.
Some say that it's the trauma that makes the object beautiful, but it is not. It is the golden lacquer, the careful repair, and the effort that goes into the slow process that makes it beautiful. It is how the object is brought back together that makes it beautiful, not the shattering of it.
Sometimes, the thing being repaired is so broken, so irreparably damaged, that some believe it can never be put back together. So, the artist spends countless hours painstakingly putting the object back together, slowly, carefully working to repair it. Sometimes in the end, it's so different from it's original that it might as well be a brand new thing. But that's okay.
Sometimes, things happen, and we think to ourselves that that was it, that was the final straw. We've finally broken, and we can never be fixed.
But that isn't true.
It's never too late. You are never too broken. You are never too far gone.
Fixing what's gone wrong, fixing what's hurt you isn't going to be easy. Sometimes, it will be backbreaking, it will take all of your energy, it could last years. But the result is all worth it. Who you will become from healing, who you will become from conquering what broke you is not only more beautiful than who you were before, but stronger in more ways than one.
Never stop trying.
Never stop fighting.
Never stop loving.
Never stop.
