Mostly yes. I'll go through them one by one.
Mellow the Merleo-bot - Based on Singapore's fictional mascot, the Merlion.
Cleo the Sphinx - Based on well...the Great Sphinx of Egypt.
Galep the Puppeteer - Based on the shadow puppets from the Wayang kulit in Java, Indonesia.
Phueng the Striker - The mask she's wearing is based on one of the many masks worn by the performers of Thailand's Khon dance. the one she wears depicts an ogre.
These are the entries I did for the Robot Design Contest where one of the rules state that they be a clear representation of a state or country in the real world. It's there that I did some research for cultural icons. I have yet to post three more entries here, and it happens so the remaining aren't based on mythical figures.
