Mokele-Mbembe is a cryptid from the Congo river basin and its name roughly translates to "One Who Stops the Flow of Rivers". It's beleived to be a surviving saurapod, possibly an apatosaurus and has been the inspiration to many expeditions into the deep swamps of the Congo. It's treated as both a cryptid and a sort of water spirit and is regarded as one of the most popular cryptids in the world!
