(SPOILER ALERT!)What if Goro Akechi had a happy family instead? What if Masayoshi Shido wasn't a 'Shito'? This is an AU in which Shido had never abandoned his wife(?)*, changed for the better and Goro grows up in a complete family. Unfortunately, anyone who knows the entire story of Persona 5 will know that this is all just fantasy. (And that means Goro's name would end up becoming Goro Shido, so um...)
This is probably the one and only time anyone would ever see Shido portrayed in a positive light. And yes, if this AU were to exist, that dumb sweater would've been a hand-me-down from Masayoshi Shido to Goro.
Drew this a long time ago. Wasn't really that proud of it, but I saw that no one seemed to have drawn something like this so I decided to share it. Will not be updating for quite a while after posting this - I have a couple more requests to finish up.
But anyways, hope you guys like it!
*Wife is in asterisk and has a question mark because I don't remember if they were ever married.

I certainly think Goro would have been a much different character had he not had to go through the feelings of loss and abandonment.

Gotcha. Did you know about the prevalent fan theory that Goro and Futaba are half-siblings? Both have the AB- blood type that's really rare in Japan, they share a number of personality traits, we don't know who Futaba's biological father is, and Shido was really interested in cognitive pscience

Unfortunately, I haven't really written that part in which it's revealed Goro and Futaba are related yet, and the story's still in its early stages. So it will actually take quite a while because that part may only be revealed in the final arc. (Beware of OOC, though. After all, it's a behind-the-scenes type of story)

Goro joins the list of "My Most Heartbreaking Characters In Fiction", honestly, in the game itself, I feel that Goro may not have been any better off if Shido stuck around, hell, look at how he treated Goro as he worked for him, knowing full well who he was.
Also, I can't remember, were Shido and Goro's mother even married?

I'm actually honestly not too sure, but if they weren't married, I guess this would be if Shido took responsibility and decides to change for the better.
That said, it may never happen, because if we take his personality in Persona 5 into account, I'm pretty darn sure that he would still make use of both Goro and his mother just for his own benefits, which is actually pretty sad.

I'm still amazed by how strongly effected by Goro I am, even now as I think about his situation, I'm getting emotional.
The fact that he was so young made it worse (for me).

Indeed. It's pretty sad that what happened to her caused Goro to desire revenge which led to the incidents in the game.
