Something about this piece really drew me in... The light and shade are almost at war, claiming opposite corners of the canvas, except they commingle and swirl around each other in the sinuous folds of the gold drapery (looks almost like smoke on the far left, in the intense light). The green of the Chinese vase is a perfect foil for the yellow, white, and orange; its solid shape holds the composition steady in the midst of the flying curves of fabric. The long oblong frame was a good choice, too; anything smaller would not have the same impact.
Beautiful piece and beautifully executed!

The folds of the cloth are impressive... Especially in the middle of the painting, the color effects used there is real effective.
