Here’s a preview of something I’ve had in the works for about 6 months now.

I decided to shelve my orca story for the time being because the size and scope of it was becoming quite daunting. For my first story, I wanted something a little less complex and a heck of a lot shorter. Though the way the pages are developing it’s still winding up to be a decent length.   The big difference is, I can see an ending to this project, whereas the other was just more and more world and lore building with no end in sight. Fun for the mind, not as much fun when you have to actually sit down and make something of it.

So this is Rhena, she’s one of the main characters from the new story, which will focus on her and her family.
Up to this point I have written out a first draft, have initial design sketches and over 30 pages sketched out in my sketch book.
This is the first time I have put color to one of their designs, and overall I’m very happy with the outcome.
Though I did question my sanity as I drew out every single spot on her.   In the end it was worth it.
Now I just have to streamline the process, which shouldn’t be too difficult now that I have a better idea of how these critters are colored.

I’m also quite proud of the background. One of the things I’m trying to figure out is how to make nice looking backgrounds that don’t take forever, since I’ll need to create a lot of them. I think this was a good start on that end.
