*I’m also going to warn you now in you read the original bio! I’ve had this character for about ten years and when I first created her I was in my weeaboo phrase.
Introduction
Name (last, first): Amaya
Nickname(s): Wench, Onna (Woman) (Due to the time period), Apprentice (Jokingly)
Age: 14-16 (in picture), Ideally lives into her 60s
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Birthday: March 24
Life Story: There will be a few breaks in between her life story and other longer parts of writing. Explaining terms or just random shit.
Amaya’s original name is unknown. A few days after she was born, her birth parents were killed by demons. Demon slayers heard the attack, and came running. However, it was too late. Her father was in pieces by the time help arrived, and her mother was barely clinging to life. While most of the slayers were dealing with the demons, two of them tried to help her mother. Her wounds were to severe, and she passed away after baby Amaya over.
After getting back to the village, they had to decide what to due with the new baby. It was decided that a couple with a newborn themselves would take in Amaya. The couple in question wasn’t really on board with having another child, but they couldn’t just leave the child. The baby had been fussy the entire time away from her birth parents. She finally calmed down to the sounds of the rain that first night with her new family. They took note of this and named her Amaya. *
*Little break here. Sorry, but Amaya’s name isn’t Japanese in origin. It can be spelled in the written languages the Japanese use, but it doesn’t really have a meaning. It’s said it can come from the words ame (a-me) meaning “rain” and yoru (yo-ru) meaning “night”. Unfortunately, I didn’t have this information when I named this character. To make up for this, I will have characters take note of her “unusual” name when I write more in depth for her. On a quick side note though, the word amai (a-ma-i) meaning “sweet” is similar, and some men will mention it when trying to flirt with her.*
Amaya grew up in a family she knew cared about her, but didn’t love her as much because of the lack of blood relation. She was made aware of her adoption early on in her life because the older children (and her older siblings) always said she never looked or acted like her parents. Her parents were always more distant to her than her siblings. It bothered her for years, but in time she began to understand she was an outsider. Amaya began her demon slayer training young. She was able to learn the fundamentals and how to use her chosen weapon, the kusarigama or chain scythe, well. However, she was needing actual experience against demons to really prove herself as a competent slayer.
At fourteen, she and her mentor, a man who is considered a master of the kusarigama, left the village to deal with slayer requests. Throughout her time with him, Amaya was belittled, unreasonable reprimanded because she was female, and received many unwanted sexual advances by this man. His reasoning was a woman her age should married, and taking care of a house and her spouse. During one of the last requests after they defeated the troublesome demon, the village was caught on a raid. She and the mentor were eating dinner when the innkeeper came running in panicked, and telling them to saving themselves. The mentor quickly changed into slayer attire, grabbed his weapon, and told Amaya to stay hidden until he came to find her.
After a significant about of time, Amaya’s building anxiety got the better of her, and she left her hiding place to find him. The scene outside the inn was terrifying. The village was in absolute ruin, bodies littering the ground and most of the buildings had caught fire. She found her mentor close by with a strange man standing over him. Amaya, foolishly, ran to his aid just before he was sliced open by the other man’s great weapon. She got into a defensive position, and waited to be attacked. The man stared at her blankly, pointed his weapon towards her, and asked, “Do you honestly think you have even a chance against me?” She knew he was right.
“Do I have any other options, but to fight for me life?”
He reached his eyebrows, “Actually…, my men and I have discussed bring a woman along to take care of our more menial tasks. You can come with us or I can end your life here. What’s your decision?”
She decided to with him. Amaya was originally treated horribly by the members of the Band of Seven. Her life was constantly threatened, Jakotsu was always complaining about her, and Mukotsu made several advances on her. But she was able to gain their trust and even a little respect through certain events like watching Mukotsu create his poisons and mentioning something knowledgeable about the herbs he was using. He was the first one she started getting close to. It first started as a way to get him to stop making advances, but she eventually began calling him Ojii-san. The main event was when she made an attempt to defend him in battle. Afterwards, Bankotsu asked her why, and she replied she was likely going to be treated worse if captured by someone else. “Might as well be able to choose my captor, right?”
They soon saw her as a respectable ally, and decided to make her a better fighter. Because of her weapon choice, Suikotsu got her first. He got her to use the scythe part as more of an extension of her arm, much like a claw. Even going to the point of getting her a regular scythe to make training easier for him to explain. Mukotsu taught how to make some of his poisons. Renkotsu taught how to make the concoction for the liquid in the fire gourd, and gave her a basic understanding of machinery by having her watch him patch up Ginkotsu. Kyokotsu was good practice for bigger targets, and watching for openings. Jakotsu was the hardest one to work with at first, however, a personal event for him that Amaya get to witness caused him to finally see a little passed his hatred. He taught her how to dodge attacks with his sword, and how to better use the chain part of the kusarigama. Bankotsu taught her hand to hand combat through sparring matches. There were really only two rules he would enforce. One, the match is over when one of them is knocked onto their back, one of them is too exhausted or beaten to continue, they both agree to stop, or one of them is begging to end the match. And two, if you make a grab for weapon it then becomes a death match, and nothing beyond that point is considered fighting dirty.*
*They do force her to kill by defending herself and them, but after the toll it takes on her, she’s kept out of battles and raids.
Through her training, she became a more competent fighter, and she began taking on smaller demon slaying requests. However, the feeling of her betraying them did linger in the air when she went off on her own for the first few times. But she proves she’s loyal to them by always coming back, and splitting the reward.
She traveled with them off and on for about two years until they’re executed. She was present this as well, up in a tree and arrived just as Bankotsu was about to get decapitated. He did notice her. She mentioned to him she was grabbing her weapon when he broke eye contact, put his head down, and yelled off her to run.
16 - After the execution, Amaya stays in the northwest until spring and after the mound is constructed. Throughout the next few years, she will come and pay her respects at least once a year, usually in the spring, or when she feels she needs to clear her head, and get her problems off her chest to someone. The villagers in the surrounding settlements do begin to recognize her over the years, and learn why she is there. They are at first very wary of her because of the possibility of an ally of the group of mercenaries, which, in reality, this is true. However, Amaya says she feels that even with the purpose of the Seven Man Mound that it will take more than that to calm the spirits of the dead men. She explains she’s paying her respects to them because no one else will and feels that it helps. When she does do this, she’ll bring flowers and sake. She spends an entire day telling them about life since she’s been gone, and shares a drink of alcohol with all of them. Amaya will set out two glasses, speak to each of them individually, sip her alcohol, and pour herself a new one then speak to the next person. After all have been talked to, she’ll drink from the glass meant for them and then say goodbye. After one of these times, she was so upset because of very traumatic event that she threw that glass at the mound. It later on began a part of this little ritual. Amaya will pitch the glass at the mound, and say something along the lines of, “You bastards better be here when I get back here next time.”
17 - 20 - She returns to the demon slayer village only for brief moments of time to see her adoptive family and get her weapon repaired. She doesn’t feel comfort staying in one place for to later due to her time traveling with the Band of Seven. She never knows if someone recognizes her or not. The most common places she does stay are with Mitsuha, Shin’ichi, and Renge (Bankotsu and Mitsuha’s child) in a village about a day’s walk from Kyoto, Sakuya’s village, and the slayers’ village.
21 - Meets and marries first husband (human) Minato
23 - Minato is drafted into battle while Amaya is pregnant with their son, Minoru. Her husband is killed in the fight, leaving her alone and devastated. Things only get worse when she gives birth to the baby. Minoru is a stillborn. Amaya is left broken and with nothing left tying her to the village, she leaves.
26 - Amaya is taken captive by a familiar group of bandits. Their leader, Rikuto, had a run in with the Bankotsu and Jakotsu when he kidnapped Amaya from some hot springs. He escaped the encounter with a few of his men. Then he was only leader of a petty group of low life thieves. At this moment in time, he and his men were such a problem that the local warlord gave them the females in his loyal ninja clan. The kunoichi were tricked into thinking they were finally going to getting rid of Rikuto. They willing went to the bandits, believing they were going to infiltrate the ranks, gain their truth, and kill them in a planned attack. They are being used as servants, and to satisfy Rikuto and his men. When Amaya sees his face after all those years she knows exactly out kind of pain she’s in for. He forcefully takes her to his quarters, and has his way with her. Afterwards, she tried up and put under the watch of the other women. One of the women, Aimi, explains to Amaya the entire situation, and she asks Amaya for help. Aimi acts as the leader for the kunoichi, and is desperately want help escaping. She says Rikuto has done this to most of the women as a way of making them obedient, and will threaten them if they mess up. Aimi has taken it upon herself to take most of his abuse to save the others from the experience. She says she has a plan for revenge, but she or Amaya have to keep Rikuto distracted. Reluctantly, Amaya gets on board and tells Aimi of her knowledge of herbs and poisons. The plan, in essence, is to use Mukotsu’s poison that is absorbed through the skin and eyes, and disguise the odor with some sweet and relaxing. The poison, itself, is to be used to stun Rikuto and his men while Amaya and the other women seduce them. Amaya has a bit of an immunity to the poisons by this point, and she takes on Rikuto. The plan basically goes off without a hitch. The bandits are killed not long after they succumb to the poison’s effect, but their leader gets some ‘special’ treatment. Effectively, he’s slowly tortured by the women, and when it doesn’t phase him, Amaya ‘takes away the thing he’s most proud of.’ (Use your imagination.) At the end of all of this, Aimi says she and the others will help Amaya with anything and everything she needs them for.
29 - She meets Hiroshi, a wolf demon, and helps him deal with a demon near his home. They decide to celebrate with some alcohol. One thing leads to another and they have sex. The next morning after, they both say they enjoyed it, and round two commences. After which, they say goodbye and leave in opposite directions. Her mind often returns to him within the next two months. Also during this time, she notices things about her body changing, and similar feelings when she was pregnant with Minoru. Amaya seeks him out, and is captured by other wolf demons with the intention of eating her. She brought to the den, and meets the leader, Kouga. Hiroshi interjects before they sink their teeth into her. He asks her why she’s there. She explains she’s likely pregnant. After hearing this, Kouga is pissed and gives Hiroshi two options. He can kill Amaya or he can leave with her and never come back. Hiroshi decides to go with Amaya.
30 - Amaya marries Hiroshi, and gives birth to their half demon son, Hayate.
31 - The Band of Seven is resurrected. She hears the news too late to make the journey to Mt. Hakurei and meet with them. She collapses to her knees in grief in front of the Seven Man Mound as the mountain shakes in the background. She cries for minutes until she feels the presence of someone in front of her. The outline is vague but the presence is unmistakable. Amaya throws her arms around the ghostly apparition, and holds on until it subtly fades away. She looks at the mountain, smiles, then sits down and pours to glasses of sake.
33 - She gives birth to her and Hiroshi’s second child, a half demon daughter named Hanae.
34 - She and Hiroshi seek out InuYasha for advice for raising their children because of recent events that caused them to flee their old village. Amaya finds out Sango and Kohaku are alive, not making her the sole survivor of the slayer’s village like she initially thought. She and Hiroshi decide to settle near the village.
35 - Amaya gives birth to twin half demon girls, Akane and Chika.
37 - A young demon child is terrorizing the village and surrounding areas. It turns out he is really just after food for him and a human child. Amaya and Hiroshi pity the children and take them in to raise them. When asking their names, they say they don’t have any. The boy is named Mana, and the girl is Junko.
40 - Amaya and Hiroshi have joked for years about having seven children because of her past connections to the Band of Seven, having a little band of their own. When Amaya starts feeling all to familiar pains in her body, she and her husband laugh and say, “We just had to joke about it, didn’t we?” Shichiro is their fifth biological child, and their seventh child overall. (Yes, she ‘unironically’ has seven kids, and, yes, it is a bit ridiculous.)
*Some things are due to change because Amaya is planned to be a part of a D&D campaign, “Carpe Diem, Memento Mori”, with the Band of Seven. I’m thinking of playing her as a ranger or a fighter, and later on doing some multiclassing with wizard and/or rogue.
2. About Him/Her
Personality: Neutral Good or Chaotic Good (D&D Alignments)
Amaya is a very open and accepting person. She’s willing to hear just about anyone out, and likes to hear/understand other points of view. Through her time with The Band of Seven, she got to experience and witness many things that many people (including herself) would not have wanted. In the beginning, she was very resentful of being captive, but years later she became very grateful for what happened. She sees the experiences as her eyes being opened up to what the world truly is. Amaya was naive to the real dangerous and nastiness of the world until she was taken hostage. As she sees it, the world and the people who live in it can be unbelievably cruel and selfish, but if one keeps his or her eyes out for it, they can find some beauty and kindness. She tries to see the best in most things and people, but will hold a stubborn grudge if she or her loved ones are crossed. She also has quite the perverted side, but only those who are close to her know this.
Good Habit(s): Good Listener, Loyal
Bad Habit(s): She can come off as very quiet and distracted when someone is talking to her or giving her orders. Some think she’s rude because she doesn’t maintain full eye contact when they speak to her. Usually, she is listening very intently, however if she finds the conversion pointless, Amaya is indeed not listening. She can become very attached to others too quickly due to her feelings of isolation in the slayer’s village, and she also has used alcohol as a way to numb her pain several times. Her language becomes quite fowl when angered, excited, or with certain people.
Like(s): Helping people (or at least feeling like she’s being helpful), personal quiet time, occasionally sake, attractive women
Dislike(s): Feeling lonely or like an outsider, anyone who speak any ill will or insults her children or half demons, being talked down to because of her gender
Hobbies: Picking flowers, cloud watching/stargazing, training with her weapon(s), looking at other women with Hiroshi
Fear(s): Loneliness, Death, Losing her husband or children
Strength(s): Good Listener, Loyal, Can open up some of the most guarded people in a relatively short amount of time
Weakness(es): Can get too attached too quickly, easily distracted when she sees something she founds attractive (i.e. a nice ass, or anything adorable things women do), her children’s begging pouty faces
Special Powers/Abilities: Dual Handedness in combat (from Suikotsu), Advanced Herbs and Poison Knowledge (from Mukotsu), Fire Gourd and Basic Knowledge of Machinery (from Renkotsu and Ginkotsu), High Dexterity (from mainly Jakotsu, but really all of them), Skilled enough in hand to hand combat she’s been able to hit Bankotsu a few times while training, Demonology
Extras: She knows the some weaknesses (mostly emotional) of all members of the Band of Seven, but she doesn’t exploit them. If she tried to, Amaya is incapable of defeating any of them in a head on confrontation, and she is very aware of this. Even with years of training and practice, she wouldn’t be able to defeat the more powerful members before or after their resurrection.
3. Dreams and Talents
Ambition/Life-long Dream: Best demon slayer with the chain scythe, Mentor for other slayers who wish to learn the weapon
Occupation/Job: Demon Slayer
Best Class(es): Simple Weapons; She was a good basic understanding of how to use blades, mostly short blades.
Worst Class(es): Ranged weapons like bows and arrows
4. Family and Friends
Parent(s): Adoptive parents, biological parents were killed by demons
Sibling(s): Adoptive siblings
Relative(s): No other known relatives
Pet(s): None of her own, but Kirara acts a bit little a village pet. (Amaya is about fifteen years older than Sango. Also, maybe some wolves since her second husband is a wolf demon. )
Best Friend(s): Mitsuha, Shin’ichi, Sakuya (Living), Band of Seven (Dead, and she closer to some more than others.)
Friend(s): Sakuya’s adoptive family, Aimi and the abandon clan of kunoichi
Crush(es): Mitsuha, Bankotsu
Rival(s): Jakotsu (in the beginning)
Enemies: Rikuto, Kouga (She’s stubborning holding a grudge.)

8. Character Opinions [What Your OC thinks about the characters]: Amaya’s opinions are phrased later in her life to provide the most information. * = Important ( ) = Notes about first meeting, specific characters in connection with Amaya, or added opinion from Amaya
InuYasha: (As adult or AU) He is fiercely loyal and protective of his wife, friends, and allies. Hiroshi (second husband) and I sought him out for advice about our young son, Hayate, and infant daughter, Hanae. We want the best for our children in a world where half demons are despised. Though he was taken aback by our pleads, he’s since said he appreciated us coming to him, even after learning about my past connections to the Band of Seven. Hiroshi and I are thinking of making him the godfather of our next child. I don’t really understand the concept of it, but how Kagome explained it, it seems like the least we could do.
Higurashi Kagome: (As adult or AU) She is an absolute sweetheart! I love watching her play with Shippou and the children. She’s make an amazing mother some day.
Sango: * I was astonished find out I wasn’t the only person to survive the destruction of the village. The stories she and the others have told me equal parts exciting and terrifying. I’m just so happy to see where she and her brother are now in their lives. They’ve come far beyond what they were as children.
Miroku: (As adult or AU) He dotes on his wife and children. Reminds me a lot about Minato and Hiroshi. He’s also the one of the best people explore more ‘corrupt’ topics with.
Shippou: (As adult or AU) He’s very hardworking and mature for his age. The children love playing with him.
Kirara: * When she’s not busy with Kohaku, I like spending alone time with her talking about the village and my old family. It really helps on the days I miss them the most.
Priestess Kaede: She’s got great advice for just able anything, and her quick wit has made me burst out laughing several times.
Hachiemon "Hachi": (Neutral)
Totousai: (Neutral) His craftsmanship on Kohaku’s weapon is increible.
Myouga: (Neutral)
Kouga: *(As adult) He was an absolute fucking ass, and I despised his very existence for a few years! He was completely against the idea of Hiroshi and I having children when he found out I was pregnant with Hayate. It wasn’t even something Hiroshi and I planned to happen. A few too many sips of sake and sex can result in a baby. Fucker threatened to feed me to the wolves until Hiroshi stepped in! However, people change and he seems to be one of them. Though, I haven’t gotten an apology for prior actions, there is a mutual understanding and respect between the two of us. (Even if my stubborn self is still a ‘bit’ bitter.)
Ginta: (Neutral)
Hakkaku: (Neutral)
Ayame: I’m grateful someone like her is able to get Kouga to behave.
Sesshoumaru: (Neutral)
Rin: (Neutral) She’s very sweet and helps watch the children when I’m busy.
Jaken: (Neutral, but annoying)
Kohaku: * I’m so proud of him. I remember that little boy whose eyes would twinkle in amazement when watching me help train the other slayers. He’s come so far.
Naraku: (Later as an adult/Mainly AU) I’ve only heard stories, but I’m happy a monster like him is dead.
Band of Seven (Generally):* These pains! Pains in my neck! Pains in my ass! Pains in my soul and very existence! ...I can’t help but love these fuckers. They made such an impact in my life in only two short years. But though them, I wouldn’t met most of the best people in my life. Life, itself, would have been very different without them. I likely would have died when Naraku’s demons attacked the village.
Bankotsu: A smartass! Oh, kami, was he a smartass! The most lovable one, but fuck! He gave off an intimidating presence that demanded respect. He was also one of the most affectionate people with his partner, Mitsuha. And the love had for his men, they really were his family. (Mitsuha and I think he might have had some kind of attract to men due to an event with a very effeminate man who wasn’t Jakotsu.)
Suikotsu: Something horrible seems to have happened to him. Most of the time a frightening force to reckon with, but there were time where the look in his eyes was off. Something in his past really messed with him, but he seemed to not remember or not want to remember what happened. I can understand and empathize with that.
Jakotsu: Things between us in the beginning were beyond rocky, but after experiencing something that was very personally hard for him without having any say if I was to be involved or not he finally gave me a chance as a person. Even though we eventually got along great, he would always came after me with his sword to “make sure I was retaining my training.” Yeah, right! He was also the one who helped me the most with my attraction to women.
Mukotsu: I called him Ojii-san (grandfather), and he treated me like a daughter or granddaughter. Though, he went about it completely wrong, he really just wanted to find a woman to love him.
Renkotsu: The biggest hard ass that I will probably even come across, but he did have his golden moments. The things he did to piss off Bankotsu were just priceless.
Ginkotsu: More of the strong silent type, which made him the best person sit and enjoy silence with.
Kyokotsu: Very arrogant, but he had the some right to be like that. His size, alone, was terrifying.
Author’s Note: If you got through this entire thing, Thank You So Much for your time! I’m wanting to make Amaya into a well written and well developed character, so opinions are very much appreciated. And I mean all opinions! Positive or Negative, all are welcome. Rip this character apart if you feel it’s necessary. There are likely many spelling and grammar mistakes. I can only caught some many by myself in editing.
