Description A follow up to this gesture study from before. Here it is, with the traced image lined up. The reason I did a tracing study was because I realised that I was elongating my forms, especially on the female figure, such that I perceived them to thinner and longer than they were [Its been a while since I realised this and I have been working on correcting it ever since. I am sure I could think of how that perception error arose due to media's unrealistic beauty standards and so on...]. So, I decided to trace over the image and notice the difference between how I 'felt' it should be and how it actually was. Tracing may be an issue when starting out - since without knowing the basics, tracing is just copying. But now that I am starting to get a good grasp of the basics, I can trace and apply what I know to it - understanding rather than copying it. And indeed, it revealed a lot of my flaws with regards to proportion. I did a completely freeform pose soon after the tracing study, in order to see how the study affected my 'feel for proportions'. The result is as you see on the right above. It's part of a series of studies with artbuddy Ravenwilder .

As always, any feedback/critique is welcome!

Thanks! :3

I often do that with studies, draw the stuff and then note down what I was thinking.

In case anyone was curious, the triangle on her chest is there because drawing an equilateral triangle [like a flat sheet on the chest, in perspective] from the pit of the neck gives the position of the nipples, which can be used to  work out the position of the pecs and the breasts.
