They say they're 'just being realistic' or 'just being honest' a lot, it's not often appreciated.

History: 

0-1 years: Firstborn to a recently wedded couple, Mas's parents were a little confused as to where their child's black and white behind came from. Nevertheless, the kit was welcomed into the family! From a young age, they're the quiet sort and have a habit of being a bit blunt about their thoughts.

2-4 years: Mas's birth is quickly followed by that of a younger sister, but the young nombeko finds that having their parent's attention off them for a while is much preferred. The appearance of despirit magic is another shock to the family. Mas had always had a strong immune system and good hearing, but when their child didn't get a flu everyone else in the house got and ended up point out bugs and mice in the next room over, some research was done as to what exactly this magic was. Luckily, once discovering the nature of despirit magic, Mas quickly found their first dragon companion: a despirit magic dragon.

Mas is herded in the direction of becoming a dragon master's apprentice at age 4 as a way of making sure they learn discipline and don't use their magic recklessly.

5-9 years: Mas is lucky and is assigned to one of the most experienced dragon masters in the clan, a tom around the age of 25. He takes Mas out into the field fairly often to teach them what the world is like beyond Skrattafell borders. In their first year of being an apprentice, not only does Mas get to visit Auster and experience the Royal Wedding, but they also learn about the hunt for the Formaris Stones. Both master and apprentice turn their attention towards helping save the world. Its at this time that Mas starts to grow more somber compared to his lively childhood. The reality of Astreak and the Shadows winning has a deep impact on the nombeko and for the first time, they truly feel small. At the same time, however, being an apprentice makes them feel like they can actually make a difference in the world.

When magic disappears for the winter, both Mas and their dragon feel drained and powerless. Their mentor, nevertheless, pushes them to learn how to make do without magic and keep their physical skills in balance with their magical ones. When the magic finally returns, along with three large dragons, Mas feels ready to take on the world. Seeing their apprentice's eagerness to learn, the dragon master takes them to see some of the new creations the Formaris times brought to the world. 

The next few years go by quickly as Mas learns the ins and outs of the world. They're still wary of the Shadow Vanguard in their floating island but trust the alliance Nombeko seems to have made with them.

10-current: Mas is approved to be a dragon master, but their mentor passes away soon after, leaving Mas feeling alone in the world. They spend most of their time out in the field looking for dragon eggs and dragons to help.
