you should make the panel that says "this is what we live for" a png with transparency on the edges that way it sits right on the background no matter how its positioned

the panel is a modified version of the "flowers.png" you used. i simply edited the text and logo...
could i send you the zipped folder so you can have a look at it? because i barely know the basics... :/

Seeing this screen every time already shits me.
If I had it as a home page, I'd die. I know I would.

It's a great skin, you did a good job re-skinning an existing design, but...
Is it really DD worthy? O.o

I've seen a lot of really deserving art that doesn't get a DD. Frankly, I don't really think getting a DD is an accomplishment, since it's one person's opinion of your art that gets you promoted, as opposed to the community at large. I loathe the deviantART system for Daily Deviations. :/

you're absolutely right, it's only one person's opinion. that alone shows that it's simply impossible to meet everybody's liking. it's kind of sad that there's a common misconception, that DDs have to be of exceptional quality or that they should be seen as an award, an accomplishment or whatever you may want to call it. nowhere in deviantART's guidelines it is said that DDs should be seen as something like that. i take it, that the people just want to believe that getting a DD is the highest thing you can accomplish on this site. sure, getting a lot more attention and recognition for one day is a nice thing (for most of us i believe), but it shouldn't be interpreted as if it'd be for something of exceptional quality or the most magnificent artwork one can create. that's not what the dA people had in mind, imo.
but hey... the dA-staff has already established a rule, so that GMs would only be in their position for a maximum of 12 months and then it could be your turn to bring in some fresh wind. however, i always appreciate a good DD suggestion, so it's always possible to let the community take part in the process of selecting a DD.
don't get me wrong here, please.. i'm not saying that the current method of one guy selecting the DDs is the most ultimate and perfect solution. featuring something in a DD is something i've been equipped with when i accuired my GM position, so i'm basically dealing with the situation as it is. however i can surely understand the issues coming along with that.

I don't really get your logic here though. Is the DD system just basically a pointless gallery folder where the GMs get bored and stick deviations that they personally like? >.O Because that's honestly how the system comes across. If the DD system is essentially that pointless, then why is it shoved down everyone's throats on the page footers and as unremoveable widgets on deviations?

well, i think it's not that much about my logic or how i think the DD system should be or how it may come accross. there's a definition of "what" DDs are and by whom they are selected. i haven't made that definition, so you might want to talk to the deviantART staff about that, because i simply don't have any answers to your questions there. sorry.

I don't really want to be rude, but I can express my opinion where I want. I wasn't destructive, I just gave my opinion and went on my way. With all the people out there who give art completely destructive commentary, I would guess I'm less of the enemy than most on this website. If the artist has a hard time with my opinion, then he or she really shouldn't be posting on the Internet where people are fully willing to express their opinions. He's a big boy, I'm pretty sure he can handle it.
I don't think it's impressive. He re-skinned and tweaked the HTML of existing code that he doesn't actually seem to have the right to be using. :/ The imagery is something that most people with basic knowledge of HTML or CSS would be able to do. So no, it's not very impressive whatsoever. I would think that as the gallery moderator of skins, you'd be able to readily recognize good coding, but it's evident that that really isn't the case. It's your decision what is a DD, and that's fine, you're in the position to be doing that. I highly question your decision, and I'm simply sharing my opinion.

of course you can express your opinion wherever you want. i never said that you couldn't. but i was more seeing "is it really DD worthy?" as a question rather than an opinion. also, i never said anything that would imply that you're destructive. all i said is that if you wonder if this is really DD worthy, then you should ask the person who gave the DD and not the deviant receiving it, because there's not much the deviant can say about it. ..and what made you think that i would consider you as an "enemy" or that i think the artist would have a hard time with your opinion? i was merely saying, that if you ask if this deviation is really DD worthy, then you can't expect the deviant receiving a DD to give you an appropriate answer and that you should aim your question to the DDing GM instead. nothing more nothing less.
i'm fine with the fact that you disapprove of this DD. in fact, i never expect everybody to agree with my opinion and/or decision. frankly, that'd be just way off. it's simply impossible to meet everybody's liking and that's not only when it comes to picking a DD. so, i'm absolutely fine with your opinion. i even agree with you that most people with some according and basic HTML and CSS coding knowledge would be able to accomplish the above deviation, but then again they haven't. you mentioned that you doubt that the artist has had the rights to use the code and then use it for something else. well, it is said in the code that you can "..Customize, edit, poke, prod, and adapt to your own style. Please leave credit where credit is due.." and that's exactly what the above artist has done."I would think that as the gallery moderator of skins, you'd be able to readily recognize good coding, but it's evident that that really isn't the case."well, two things come to my mind and i would like to quote something from the following helpdesk entry: FAQ #18: Who selects the Daily Deviation and how is it chosen? "A small assortment of submissions are chosen each day by this select group of staff/volunteer members who wish to showcase an image which they found impressive or otherwise interesting enough to deserve being brought to the attention of the community-at-large. It is important to note that selections need not be of professional quality in order to be featured for the day."so, having that in mind, please don't tell me what i know or don't know about coding, because it's completely irrelevant when it comes to selecting a DD.
yes, i understand and acknowledge that you don't think that this deviation is impressive or otherwise interesting enough for a DD. i appreciate your opinion. but then again, i'm only asked to select something that I think would fit that description.
please don't feel offended by my comments. i never said that you were rude, disrespectful, destructive or anything. telling from your comment you've had a lot to say about this deviation getting a DD and you're now talking to me about this. afterall, that's all i asked for in my initial reply to your first comment to this deviation.
