Description: Large parts of the Zebra lands are rural by definition, persisting on agriculture and extraction of natural resources by often primitive means. Outside the protections of the cities these populations often form rough cadres of young zebras willing to fight. And they often get this through driving off or killing monsters and beasts that threaten the community, or when tempers flare rival villages. Gangs of armed farmers or their sons have often been used by the rural aristocracy against one another over grudges or local political concerns or even attempted to throw them in rebellion against whomever is Caesar at that time. None the less, against the Caesar at least they haven't been renowned for success.

All the same, if pressed for hooves on the ground the village communities are the first place to go to rally a band of willing youths looking to prove themselves against whatever challenge may arise. They are equipped with whatever is on hand and don't often need to be whipped to face danger. Across the Zebra lands the art of throwing a spear with skill and precision is a time-honored tradition and these volunteers bring that to the field. Even while they never carry many javelins to be a dedicated range unit, they are not lacking in the melee prowess to go hoof to hoof. Their javelins being used to weaken the enemy before the distance is closed by which-ever party.
