Chapter 3: Introduction

After the walk with Petrakis, my best friend, he grabbed a bus & went back home. I trudged my way back in the blazing heat of June accompanied with the wind that was silently telling today’s secrets to the Jasmine trees. I collapsed on my bed after reaching home & gulped down some Pineapple juice with a few Jasmine petals still stuck in my ‘awesome hair’. I wonder why sometimes people call me egoistic! My thoughts were interrupted when my cell burst with life! “1 new message.” Great. It was her sms. Her class got over & she was wondering if we could meet. I was tired, but, what wouldn’t I give to see the person who can bring a smile on my face by just taking her name?! I replied, “Yeah sure. Let’s meet in Sector 40. Cya.” However, my plan was destroyed when my mom told me that she had to go meet her friends in their weekly meetings. “Nooooooooooo!!!!”, I almost yelled. “Why Avi? You just came back home from your tuition. Where do you possibly plan to go in this heat?”, she asked. I just gave her a blank look, because I couldn’t tell her or my dad about my girlfriend. It would be a sweet reason for them to use if my marks ever went down. I was almost forced to end my last relationship after my marks started to go down unexpectedly. I called her up & explained her why I couldn’t come, and, she was as disappointed as I was. However, my mom leaving the house meant that I could easily race without anybody saying anything. I do have a sibling. My elder brother. But, he went abroad to study. So, taking advantage of this seldom opportunity, I switched on my PC & let the fantasia absorb me. I guess I should let you in on a little secret before I go on. Hi. My name is Avi. It’s rather short, but, as my sister says, “It’s short & sweet!”. Unlike me, as I’m almost 6 feet & I’m going to be 17 in just a few days. I’m a normal guy with a lot of friends & have a nice attitude towards life. Crazy about racing! That’s it, I guess!
