This is a good series you've started here. So much hinted at in such an artistically pleasing way. I'm not sure which one I like better; I think the more refined details in the first piece were preferable, but I'm really enjoying the big, saturated, expressive colors in this piece too.

Thanks. I'm trying to loosen up and be a little more expressive/impressionistic. I'm very happy with how this one worked out. I'm thinking about doing series' as a catalog of different styles as well as a group of thematically related pieces, i.e one piece is a tightly realist watercolor, the next is a loose gouache, a third might be charcoal, etc. But all part of the same series by virtue of the subject. Thanks for the +fave!

That's an interesting idea. Do you have some kind of display setting in mind for this kind of series? I think some sort of context might be key in delivering a series like that. And, having said that, I am now completely out of my element.

Actually, the idea just came to me as I was writing that reply. So, I haven't really given it any thought. I would look at it as just an exploration of a subject or theme through varying media and styles (pretentious enough for ya?). And, now I'm out of my element.
