610,042 people were homeless in the United States. Nearly two-thirds of people experiencing homelessness (65 percent or 394,698) were living in emergency shelters or transitional housing programs.
And this is just in the US alone, a report to the United Nations in 2005 stated there were an estimated 100 million homeless people in the world, and an additional 1.6 billion living without adequate housing.
For me personally who is no stranger to the struggles life can throw our way, its a personal piece. I invite you in a world that is becoming more colder day by day not to turn your head away
to those who struggle and are reaching out for help (I assure you asking for help isn't a sign of weakness but courage), don't look away and tell yourself there isn't anything you can do,
when even simply looking into someones eyes with empathy and acknowledging their suffering can go a long way. Be someones guiding light, be someones hope.
