Description Old idea I finally put on paperscreen.

Seriously, BioWare: you have a strange concept of what a "quest" is...

Ha ha ha, yeah I kind of wondered what that was about too. I think they were using those quests to get around the whole "I have nothing more to say to you" lines, but they failed with this one. XD

Heh, well it kind of got tiresome for me after a while. Especially if you get it early on in the game.

New quest (stolen from emedeme XD): FenrisΒ΄housecleaning.
Fenris try to read and Hawke cleans his house. Then, like magic he can read but the house continues dirty (lazy DA2 programers!!)

Tada... idea for a companion quest:

The Captain's regret

Aveline visits her companions homebases to find them all abandonend - not a a lifesign
of them at the Hanged Man, Blooming Rose or even the Chantry either.

A letter Aveline finds at the Amell-Hawke Estate triggers a new quest:

'It seems your forceful 'charms' have finally taken their toll on your friends and your husband's patience.
Find them all across Thedas and at least try to regain their trust and support.

Yours sincerly

B. F.'

NeroonCousland [2011-05-14 15:02:01 +0000 UTC]

Quite good idea of yours!

Those quests are one of the reasons why I find it rather insulting to Mass Effect, when people say the reason DA2 is "less than what we hoped for" is supposedly because it was made to be like Medieval Mass Effect.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Abadir In reply to NeroonCousland [2011-05-14 15:26:42 +0000 UTC]

Dragon Age 2 IS closer to Mass Effect than to origins, actually, but it is an insult saying that it's the same game swapping rifles with swords. I think the dialogue weel is the element to blame, because the gameplay is quite different. ME2 has many features that I'd have liked to see in DA2, considering... probabily if it would actually HAVE BEEN a medieval version of ME ity would have been a better game...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NeroonCousland In reply to Abadir [2011-05-14 17:53:55 +0000 UTC]

Actually as I wrote in Sonias thread I don't think it's the dialogue wheel either. It's just that in DA2 there are no real choices period.
In the Mass Effect games the dialogue wheel usually offers the following:
- Pick Option A
- Pick Option B
- Pick Option C
with occasional 4th and 5th option if you have enough Paragon or Renegade.

In DA2 you have:
- Pick Option A in a diplomatic tone.
- Pick Option A in a sarcastic tone.
- Pick Option A in an aggressive tone.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Abadir In reply to NeroonCousland [2011-05-14 18:37:16 +0000 UTC]

No, i mean that is the equation "Dialogue Weel=Mass Effect" that has biased the opinion on this matter since it was said that DA2 would have had it.
The use of the wheel is different in the two games, but as THERE are some similarities (and more to the ME series than to the first DA game, as I said), I think most people, making the forementioned equation, says "DA2=ME".

...But maybe it's the final explosion that made them thinking of a SCi-Fi game... I mean... Have you seen it? I mean... that's not a plain "boom", it's a quantum expolosion with some gravity singularity involved...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NeroonCousland In reply to Abadir [2011-05-14 22:00:36 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I've seen it. Personally I always filed it under "magitech" combining gunpowder and magic, rather than anything Sci-Fi-ish. But valid interpretation.

Aspheroth In reply to Abadir [2011-05-15 10:56:57 +0000 UTC]

the da 2 gui and icons, even the sound when you apply abilities and upgrades - all that
is rather cheap star trek tng holodeck controls clones than immersive for a mid ages setting.
The distracting combat cacaphonies music would rather fit a low budget
tv sifi series between 2 and 4 a.m. at night either.

so let's not insult me 1-3

(Not) the way it should be - act 1, 1rst quest for Aveline.

To complete the quest, wait about 20 seconds until gordian knot
of interfering scripts finally dissolves and you get at least your xp.
Then run around through the barracks twice to get the finishing convo - swell.

Act II - all 4 quests contain rants or worse (long road) by Aveline,
one right after bringing her together with her hubbie - charming.

See above cartoon for act III

I'm not certaitain if Isabela meant Aveline or the scripters and writers when
she said:
'... too many hits to the head - or not enough...'
