IKW Violator to Fleet Command. Pack Commander Kon reporting. Transmitting update on our recent encounter with the Federation starship Intrepid.

In an effort to prevent an open outbreak of hostilities with the United Federation of Planets, we have been assigned to rendezvous with the USS Intrepid for a diplomatic meeting. If these negotiations fail, a full scale war with the Federation is almost certain. While the chances for glory and honor in such a conflict would be great, the potential risk to the Empire cannot be overstated. The Federation would be a formidable opponent and, while we would certainly defeat them in the end, the effort would drain strength better deployed elsewhere.

As a safeguard, I have ordered Assassin and Intruder, to keep station at the fringes of the system. In the event of treachery on the part of the Federation, they will at least be able to avenge our destruction. So far, however, there seems no cause for alarm.

Intrepid is standing to at the agreed upon distance and a shuttlecraft carrying Federation High Commissioner Chamberlain’s party is approaching. Political Officer Kern and his team are assembling on the Hanger Deck to welcome them aboard. I wish them success.

As Kahless once said, sometimes honor comes to those who fight at a different time.
