turn on macro mode , try to keep shutter speed between 1/80-1/100sec. and also turn anti hand shaking feature of your cam on, if your cam has any manual mode then you can do this job more easily also set lowest ISO value to get noise free shots like iso 80 or iso 100 ...!

I always thought its automaticthe camera decides it by itself

Fixed the rest of the settings and quite better result.

hmmm.. nope sorry i think you cannot control shutter speed yourself since it has not manual mode .
