So this is one of my entries for the Rebirth and Renewal Photomanipulation Competition my.deviantart.com/art/Photoman… .
Diamonds don't actually come from coal, the purist form of coal would be graphite, but I have always liked the idea due to the intense contrast between the two substances in both use and appearance. Which is really what I love about the idea, while it may not be true in this instance the simple act of something being reborn not into just something new but into something the stark opposite of what it was - it just really tickles my fancy.

I seem to be on some sort of comment-critique roll, so lets do this! This piece is really cool. However I do have some possibly helpful advice. Her jawline is one thing that really sticks out to me. You had some sort of dark rough textured stock that you are then blending into a smoother, lighter coloured stock on her chin. Her jawline is very pronounced and not necessarily in a good way. You need to have more of a transition between the two stock pieces and the dark line along her jaw isn't doing you any favors. Also, might I suggest taking away some of her neck, underneath her chin? It might help give you the clear jaw that you need without a thick line through it. I really like her dress and arms and the diamond with the oil around it it extremely impressive. I wouldn't be too concerned about the overall darkness, I think it is nice. I do see some slight discoloration on her neck-collar thingy, but otherwise her clothes look brilliant. I hope this helps you! Also, good luck in the contest! I am still working on my entry~

I want you to know that I accidentally closed my window when I saw this on get watchers. I had to go to google and type in coal diamonds photomanipulation and deviantart to find this. It is not on the top of the list.
