Thanks for the feature. I'm recomposing this piece to get it ready for colour. I hope it will be ready before the spring.

Thanks! We always seem to focus on visualizing the Witch King, but I wanted the emphasis to be on Eowyn.

It almost feels like I'm there. One of the best works I've seen in a long time. A colored version of this would be really cool!

This is beyond awesome- I love everything about this picture. The characters, the landscape, the perspective...

Thanks! I have done a colour version of this some years ago that I'm not overly fond of. It's one of my b/w pieces that I hope will see a reworking this year.

Very epic. I like the composition most, and the defiance attitude of Eowyn, very cativating.
The textures are also incredibily well done.
Your traces carry very much personality.

That is a wonderful picture, I love Eowyn's serious face as she reveals herself.
I spot Merry under one of the Creature's wings. Or at least I assume that's Merry.

yeah, that's Merry. Probably not in the right place, but I felt he needed to be there.

I like it, I'm impressed how much detail you have in here without it becoming too much.

I like it that you did it from the Witch King's view . it's something different and it really works .

Definitely one of my favorite scenes. ^^ I can't wait to see when this is colored! It looks amazing as it is. I love you you managed to get this so incredibly detailed without making it looked cluttered at all. The way you use the contrast between the light and dark looks excellent, too.

Excellent illustration of that famous battle. This scenery offers plenty to see, and composition is perfect in my opinion - I especially like how Eowyn stands out. The city on the background, mountain slopes and sky... you have succeeded well keeping this illustration "clean".
Very skillful shading (Witch-King is really impressive) and all those details really raises the atmosphere. I can't wait to see coloured version.

thanks! I really liked this point of view, especially because I wanted to avoid showing the witch king's visage. He still dominates the space and makes Eowyn look even more frail. The background is still up in the air for me. It's a matter of where on the battlefield this took place - was near the city, mid way, after the gates or before. Once I'm more comfortable with that I'll be able to plot it out.
I have done a colour version. One which worked out well on the foreground, but the back.

Wonderful job! Capturing a great moment here. I love the shading you've done on the subject, and especially the fact that you made a personal view of things, no movie-based-nazgul here.
One little thing: shouldn't the Witch King be seated in front of the wing? Now his (armored) leg seems to puncture the wing membrane.
Great illustration, love the charging line of Rohirrim is the background.

thank you. I'd like to see more of people's personal interpretations instead of capturing the film versions. It would create a much more vivid world.
You're probably right about the leg but I was more concerned with getting the compostion right.

True, it's the personal views that grab me the most.
You're right mate, it's the comp that drew me in.
Cheers!
