Hey guys! So I've been working on the next page of the Amethyst Chocolate ask blog comic, but I felt that it's taking a while to do and I don't want that to be the only AU I post on here. I've also recently thought about a darker, horror story idea for CATCF, and decided to make one of my own that I can post while I make the comic! This draws inspiration from some of my favorite horror series' (Nightmare on Elm Street, Little Nightmares and the Mandela Catalogue mainly). With that being said, here is "Charlie's Nightmare".

The story begins 5 years after the events of the tour. Charlie Bucket, now 17 has a lot going for him, he has his caring family living in the factory with him, he's the heir to a massive candy factory, he even now has a stable long distance friendship with the other winners (named "The Golden Ticket Gang", you can blame Mike for that)! He's the boy that got everything he's ever wanted...everything except his "Happily Ever After".
For you see, my dear viewer, Charlie might've been the only child left not maimed or reformed by the factory, he didn't leave unscathed. He has seen what has happened to the other winners first hand, and that has caused something Wonka's machines couldn't cure...

Guilt.

Guilt that he wanted to help them back then, in fact he could've. He could've helped Augustus out of the chocolate, he knew how to swim so he could fetch him from the water, or used the lollipops as something for him to grab onto. He could've took the gum from Violet so she couldn't chew it, or stopped Veruca from going near those squirrels. He could've even stood in the way of Mike so he couldn't run into the WonkaVision's blast. He could've but he didn't.
He didn't know what to do at the time, so he just stood there, stood there and watch them get stretched, pulled, thrown around, practically poisoned, maimed, attacked, and traumatized, and he didn't do anything. So ever since that day he wanted to make things right and get them back to their normal selves.
He started to distance himself more from his friends, family, and even Wonka at some points. Working tirelessly on old projects like adding guard rails in the Chocolate room or perfecting that damn gum (It's still a work in progress) trying to find a way to reverse the effects, to the point where he wouldn't sleep for nights on end to get the results he needs only to crash the next morning. His hair being messier than usual and dark circles under his eyes, though he claims "it's nothing to worry about" and that "He can take care of himself just fine", everyone could tell something was up. It didn't take long untill something went horribly, horribly wrong.
During one of his power naps, something crept into his mind, something dastardly and horrifying: An eldritch, candy-scented, parasitic entity known as Lhikhorshka, or Licorice for short.
An inky shapeless being that can enter the dreams of those in pain and try to convince the person to give them a world of pure imagination, freeing them from the pain in reality. An endless dream if you will, in exchange for them to control the host while their in the dream. The catch is it feeds off of their energy slowly untill they've become a hollow husk, a flesh carcass for them to control as the victim is stuck in their own mind. They can also make up to 5 entities of people the victim remembers, each with their own personalities, powers and forms. They will do anything necessary to convince them, and I mean ANYTHING.
Now plagued with continuous nightmares from Licorice, Charlie has to find a way to end this seemingly endless loop of despair. Will he ever find the help he needs? Would he have the will to defeat evil corrupted versions of his dear friends, and escape from the clutches of Licorice? Or will he cave into the madness, accepting and giving in to this endless nightmare...?
