Psychic type pokemon are a mystery, most of them share some attacks but depending on the pokemon these may be focused on specific mental abilities such as telekinetics, telepathy, among others. Noctowls are mostly illusionists that confuse the senses of their opponent and create an hypnotic state they use to their advantage when chasing their prey. As most psychic pokemon these abilities make them highly hard to train but also catch.

The Yanjiu family was capable of taming these incredible creatures and were surrounded by several Hoothoot's and Noctowls. But being so near of these creatures at an early age damaged the fragile consciousness of the 13th son Xu Liang. He grew up to be a paranoid man that ended the life of the Yanjiu family. He was 24 years old when the thought of him being chased by his brothers lead him to order his noctowl to disguise him as his father, this way he murdered his relatives. His life ended by the guards of the family after finding the body of Xu Liang's father.
