My tribute to the 10th Anniversary of 9/11.

Drawing this felt very personal because I lived in N.Y.C. when the towers collapsed, and saw it from the windows of my school. I remember the days after it, the horrible black cloud of ash and death that covered the city, the "missing" notices for all those who'd never returned home, the candles lit in memory of all those lost that day.

I was so young. Normal children, if you give them crayons, they'll draw you a picture of a flower, or their mom, or some race car they wish they had... I'd draw the twin towers in flames.

It's been 10 years, and many things have changed, mostly for the better, but I still know I'll never forget those who died that day, the innocent victims in the buildings that were hit, the passengers on the plane that fought back and saved so many lives, and the selfless heroes who went in to rescue the people burning in the towers, knowing they'd probably never make it out again. RIP.
