UPDATE: I received an honorable mention in the contest! First time I've made it in the ranks of a contest, and I'm ecstatic that an artwork that means so much to me is the first to do so! See the rest of the submissions here: [link] The winners really blew away the competition! There are some really nice pictures in there!I did this for a contest on a Metroid website. The point of the contest was to depict the Metroid series in a new and interesting way. I really stepped outside of my comfort zone on this one and to be honest I'm not sure how I like it yet. In any case I put A LOT of hard work and time into this piece, and it was definitely a learning experience! (By the way, the little squares everywhere are supposed to be like abstracted snowflakes)
This scene depicts Samus' fight with the first Adult Sheegoth in Phendrana Drifts' Chapel of The Elders from Metroid Prime. The Metroid Prime games are my favorite series of all time
