I know DC is, but as it stands, they do have to compete with Marvel, and Marvel pretty much did the impossible: bring a bunch of individual characters and put them in equal footing in the movie. For all intents and purposes, Avengers SHOULD have failed, but Marvel pulled it off. DC has to compete with that AND make sure they don't fail either. It'll be SUPER hard (pardon the pun) to bring in all the Leaguers any time soon.
And yes, Hiddles has. I enjoy him and his acting (and Loki), but to be frank, I'm not that big of a fangirl simply because his fans (and the Avengers fandom in general) is batshit insane (and they have a tendency to throw characterization out the window to fill their need for Avengers slash buttsex). Yep~.

Come to think of it, it's funny. All it takes is one bad apple to turn things sour. My admiration towards this actor, furthermore man, as an individual, has not and will not diminish; unless I find some personal action of his to be offensive, I don't think I'll find myself crushing on another celebrity in the meantime.
As for DC, well, they've got renowned A-list characters on their side, considering that they sponsor said characters, and have been around longer than Marvel - 78 years. I'd say the director for the JL film has a lot to digest, but as for the reason as to why The Avengers seems to mesh flawlessly together is possibly because of the secondary characters' imperfections, thus allowing room for permeability to run things smoothly in terms of directing and screen-writing, not to mention worthy candidates cast as the ensemble. DC on the other hand, will continue to shed light (or lack thereof) on both Superman and Batman, both of which are inhuman in their own unique way, therefore revealing that sort of "why-do-I-need-Robin?" sentiment about Batman. As for supporting roles (assuming that DC will cast the original League) including the Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter, well, one can only hope that future director isn't too wet behind the ears and will produce a smashing box-office hit per quota. I personally would love to see Lynda Carter return as Wonder Woman.

Oh, I adore Hiddleston; I just refuse to let myself join that massive mob of gushing ovaries that is the Loki fandom. I see enough of them on my tumblr dash; I don't need to associate with them 24/7 on top of it.
Yes, but DC also has a pretty shitty record when it comes to movies. Superman Returns did alright, but it wasn't memorable. Green Latern, though enjoyable, was overall a joke. Their only golden ticket has been Batman Begins and the Dark Knight. It's not so much the characters or their comic stories as it is DC's ability to actually produce a group movie that can compete with Marvel's newfound fame and high standards of success. DC has their work cut out for them, and while I will be the first to admit I will see every one of their movies, I'm not holding my breath for anything killer-spectacular outside of the new Batman films.

Yeeeeep; I can understand the "Loki'd" joke, but that got old pretty quickly. Just heaven forbid one of your tumblr friends upload a bunch of Tony/Steve spam. /shudder THAT is not fun at all. The only "stars" I'm attracted to are Michael Fassbender and Emily Browning, but I never spew my OMG I WOULD TOTES SLEEP WITH THEM AAAAAAAAAAAAA all over the place. I admire them as people far too much to do that. (Seriously, they're amazing people outside of the screen, especially Emily).
...I wonder if they're going to CGI her costume on, too. /shot

Oh, I have my own private tumblr (and an ask-Lottie blog that I need to update badly) for all the things that make me happy... namely Disney, Misfits, and vintage/historic clothing. So... yeah; I see a lot of junk on my dash from my online friends (that I met elsewhere XD).
Yes, he was in that. He was also Erik Lensherr in First Class, and the crazy Irish dude in Jonah Hex (in my opinion, the only good part of that movie, too), and he had the main male role in Jane Eyre, and he played a double agent in Inglorious Bastards... he's done a lot of stuff. But if you want proof of his amazing skill, watch The Case of the Silk Stocking ( [link] ). I guarantee that if any other actor played Michael's role, you would not feel anything for his character. If anything, you'd go "meh, that was a waste of time" and be on your merry way. That BBC Sherlock Holmes is hopelessly predictable and really... nothing special. But Michael really made that episode from something average into heart-wrenching; and his role is relatively minor in the scheme of things.
AND YES, she was. She's been in Ghost Ship, A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Uninvited, Sleeping Beauty (a 2011 art festival film that was amaaaazing, but NSFW at all); she's finished filming A Summer in February with Dan Stevens and Dominic Cooper, and just recently finished filming Magic Magic with Juno Temple and Michael Cera (it's supposed to be a suspense-thriller); currently, she's working on God Help The Girl, Plush, and Cassie and Jude. I'm not a fan at all, what.

And yep, she sure did. She's really blossomed into an amazing individual who has wisdom beyond her years.

I always use Photoshop (7.0) and the cheapest Bamboo tablet on the market. XD PS is a bit outdated, but it gets the job done.

And my tablet's a cheap one as well! I found the cheapest on that I could find! XD (but regardless, I love it!)

XD nope, I just experiment with all sorts of different techniques. :>
I was lucky; one of my friends works at an electronics store, so he got me a discount on my tablet. It was still about $68, but that's much better than $80.

Just look up different coloring tutorials on here, and then mix and match after you practice them a few times. TONS OF FUN~.
And remember, kids: it's not what you know, it's who you know. Well. When it comes to anything with monetary value.

Exactly. I used to get asked the same thing (oddly enough, not since I changed accounts and stopped drawing anime, though; shows how many people prefer that medium). It's always practice.
Pretty sure even someone as renown as Glen Keane practices in his spare time. Art takes a lifetime and a whole lot of love.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm glad I found my own likes, but it seems people can be absorbed into something, and that's it...
It's true too! Without love in it, what really is art?

My only beef with anime-style is that it's very repetitive. Even "unique" looking characters have duplicates in other anime canon. The faces and bodies are typically generic and unrealistic. You could pick a series, erase the hair and coloring, and most characters would look the same. I prefer western mediums nowadays because I don't want that cookie-cutter look. I want a medium that allows for "cartooning" real unique facial features into my own style. That's just my personal preference, though.
Without love, it's lines on paper. XD

absotivelyposolutely In reply to peachykani [2012-06-08 20:36:23 +0000 UTC]
EXACTLY. I find that even unique anime share the same cliched qualities of every other anime series out there, from design to plot to jokes to characterization. The order of events might be unique to character, but their personalities at the end of the day are just as repetitive as their faces. I think this is why I've turned to western animation, since it incorporates so much more than just one culture into its stories (and does so in a much more accurate manner than eastern animation), and there's definitely a wider variety of character design.
/end random rant XD;
