The horse is a splash overo. With that pattern the white often covers the entire head, and sometimes even the ears, and the eyes are blue.

He looks like a tri-color paint dilute--is that even possible? [1 cremello gene, to dilute the dun patches, 1 bay gene for the bay patches... I think]

No, that's not possible. Dilutions are "global" in nature; they dilute any pigmented area on the horse. There is a modifier to tobiano that will "undilute" random areas on a cream (ie, palomino or buckskin) horse, but that's a different thing.

It is an awesome color. Paints are neat. ...Although, I think, though, that the dun patches are actually mud. Southern mud is red clay and it stains a kinda orange-y color. Bleh, it sucks to have to clean it off.
