The light background contrasts nicely with the dark horse. The horse has a nice look in its eye and the ears are wonderfully shaped.
The moon makes a nice backdrop, however it is far too detailed and detracts from your simple image. A large, round shape with perhaps some soft, diffused shading would have matched better with the tone set by your subject and would not have been nearly so distracting. These things are partly why photo backgrounds generally do not work with drawings or paintings. Too much detail and visual "noise" competing with the artist's work.
You might also consider the size of the work you upload. Presentation-wise most images can get by well at under 900 pixels at the largest side unless they are exceptionally detailed. Working large allows for getting at those little details, yes, but I don't think much is lost on many peoples' work by sticking to smaller image sizes.
