She isn’t quite sure where she’s going— she hasn’t been this entire time, not with the clouded-dark water and the lack of any direction. The scattered bits of plant life and rock structures protruding from the ground all begin to look the same after a while.
The tooth continues to be just a dead fragment, with nothing guiding her as before.
It’s not the dark that unsettles her— it’s the feeling of being hopelessly lost, aimlessly swimming for a goal that may or may not exist. For a moment, she feels something close to fear— what if she is trapped down here forever? There’s no telling how much time has passed. The thought is almost enough to make her swim back upwards (although at this point she isn't sure where 'up' would bring her). But as she wanders the depths, finally, finally, she feels something similar to the sensation before.
The tooth, as if awakened, hums in response.
She dives deeper still and feels her paws touch solid ground— reaching a flat expanse of seafloor where immense shadows of rock extend out of the ground to tower over her. They’re placed a bit too regularly though, and she surmises that this is not stone, but bone— polished smooth by time, the remains of some colossal creature— and likely the owner of the tooth she currently carries.
A dinosaur perhaps. Fayetta talks about both those and dragons being absolutely humongous— and dinosaurs, if her memory serves her right, are real.
As she explores the remains, marveling at the sheer size of the creature this must have once been, she becomes aware of a presence watching her… and what looks like a glowing string. It’s just bright enough that the rest of her surroundings are pushed into nothingness— like the eye-dazzling effect of firelight.
It seems to get closer— swim towards her— and she wonders if it’s a living being… some sort of animal?
She isn’t sure what to do with it though… nor is she able, she finds, to communicate with it. The waters are not her home, and she finds herself unfamiliar with the life here.
She is at an impasse, then, until she spots a small glowing fish.
Fish can glow… sometimes. But very few fish glow as brightly as this— as if made of light. If she can see their light, then they’ve already seen her, and her suspicions are confirmed when the area is suddenly flooded with a soft glow and she can finally see.
“Reverie, we meet again.”
“Seliat. What are you doing here?” She’s a bit surprised to see them here, but their presence is not… unwelcome.
(When they ask if she wants to journey together, she happily accepts.)
