Jack,and his band of strange companions continued their journey to seek a way to reutrn to the past, ever since Waka destroyed one particular time travel artifact on accident.

One night, While Ammy, Issun, and Waka slept at the campsite, Jack hiked to a nearby clearing to medidate, however he felt that somebody was watching him. The moment he made it to the clearing, he was ambushed by an unusual mask-wearing warrior wielding a magic sword similar to his. The two were in the middle of their battle when suddenly, Some cyborg bounty hunters began to close in on them.

The warrior, (who in the middle of the fight introduced himself as Oki of the Oina tribe. A tribe in northern Nippon, that Jack had known about only through hearsay and talk form his father) claimed that Aku put a bounty on his head, Jack replied with the same answer. Seeing no point in battling Each other, the two resorted to work together to defeat the cyborg bounty hunters sent by Aku.

How Oki ended up in the future, is that when Aku returned during the day of darkness and enslaved Nippon, Oki instinctively took the kutone from his village again to try and vanquish him using it's power. Much like Jack, Waka, Ammy, and Issun, Oki was sent into the future before he could slay Aku. While in the future, He succumbed yet again to his selfishness for he, much like jack, desired to return tot he past and finish off aku while at the same time avenging the destruction of his people (aku had the entire village of Wep'keer magically sealed in a snow globe where it would be in an eternal snowstorm).

Unlike jack, who managed to control his anger, Oki is still being pursued by his Emotional manifestation similar to and not unlike Mad Jack.

Think of him as being similar in personality to jack prior to the Mad Jack episode

NOTE: when doing a crossover between Okami and Samurai Jack, It always important to merge the lore of both worlds together in order for it to make sense. this is one good example.
