This is my version of the Alabama state flag.My design is based on the current Flag of Alabama I just threw in a little blue to help distinguish it from The Flag of Florida
This is part of my series of state flag redesigns.

I've got many flags that I've designed using this Southern Cross, for the states of Georgia and Alabama. I've always likes this color scheme as the former C.S.A. used these colors in the west.

I like it, but why change the current state flag?

Because even though it is a very nice design it is way to similar to the flag of Florida so thats why I made some slight alterations to it.

I think you mean Florida's looks like Alabama's, Alabama started using it February 16, 1895 where as Florida started using it's in November 6, 1900

I have one of these, it is know as the Southern Cross Flag. I like it... for the colors.
