Doing a 30 day drawing challenge. Day 1; A picture of myself. I drew this on about 2 hours of sleep.

I think, especially as girls, we are encouraged to try to present ourselves as attractive and appealing at all times, even when the consequences for not doing so are negligible at best such as in a daily art challenge online. As such, I tried to focus on the reality of Mouse; a girl who does not sleep enough, who wears frumpy XL hoodies and often walks around with a frown and squinting a little... Not because I'm mad but because I am sleepy and have insomnia and depression. I never wear makeup and it's a pretty common occurrence for me to not brush my hair unless I am leaving the house. I have thick eyebrows and sometimes I have pieces of hay stuck in my hair from my urban farm. The reality is... I can be pretty if I want to, but most of the time it's just a bother and not something I care about... Nor do I care if you care, especially in my home with my friends and family. And looking pretty in a drawing on the internet is the least of my concerns in life.

Embrace who you are and how you look. You don't have to put on a good face to be a good person.
