Deviously deviated for 's Zodiac Signs challenge!

Entry level: 4

The history of Pisces comes from the story of Aphrodite and her son, Eros, the primordial goddess and god of love and desire, respectively. Gaia (Mother Earth) had become angry with the gods and their wars, and sought revenge by coupling with Tartarus, and created Typhon, the most dreadful monster ever to live. Aphrodite and Eros hid in the reeds of the Euphrates to elude the monster, but was frightened by the rustling of the wind in the undergrowth. Fearful for her son's life, Aphrodite transformed her and her son into fish, and jumped into the river to escape Typhon.

In an alternate version, it is said that an egg falls into the river and two fish roll it to shore. It hatches Aphrodite who, out of gratefulness, puts the two fish in the sky.

In the constellation, the two fish are joined by a cord to represent the connection between mother and son. Likewise, when a Pisces falls in love, one may find that they have a hard time letting go of their exes, placing their lovers on pedestals and refusing to let go, even if the love is diminished. Pisces tend to be emotional, readily forgiving but never forgetting, yet loyal, addicting, and highly artistic in their ways.

Heya!

This is really good! Both the mermaids and the background look very good. I have only two suggestions...

-First, You described the story inthe artists comments as Aphrodite and her son Eros. My suggestion is to see if you can adjust the body one of the mermaids to make it a merman to better go with the story. (just my personal opinion )

-Second, the font. Although I find that the words don't actually jump out as much as they do in most manips with text, the font you've used doesn't really suit the background. The background has old archiac glyphs and symbols and then the font is rather fluid and lively. See if you can find/use a font with a more rune-like look (for both 'Pisces' and 'the fishes')

This really is good though it's already made it to my favourites

Good luck in the Challenge!

Dan

PS-Coincidentally, I'm a Pisces. I find that your description fits me quite well

Thanks, Dan! I always appreciate your honest feedback!

I tried to make the orange-tailed merperson more boylike in nature by cutting back on the hair... less body, less flowing curls... and slightly emphasized his shoulders, arms, and hand. Tried to make him look less petite than before, but since he's still a child, I dlet him keep some of his prettines, lol.

I also bantered with myself for a long time about the font. Ultimately, I decided that you were completely right about the font of "The Fishes" text... it really didn't fit in. But I also decided to keep "Pisces" as is, for now. Since the pisces people tend to exhibit more elegance, grace and creativity than the other signs, I think it fits well.

(PS: According to the astrology know-how... you [Pisces] and I [Gemini] are supposed to make perfect friends for each other... but terrible [long term] lovers! )

Oh that looks great!

That font looks alot better, although I do agree with Pisces exhibiting elegance and grace would be a good reason to keep the other font too... I hadn't thought of it that way.

I'm not one for astrology, but I could see being friends. Lovers...well, eventually my suggestions would get on your nerves

That's interesting, because I'm a Leo, and yet I have the emotions of a Pisces.

Both signs are usually warm and caring, tend to be sensitive, and have a flair for drama! Pisces tend to be more submissive, though. Also, if you were born on a cusp, you could even have another part of a sign influencing you!

(Heh, I usually don't get into the astrology as much, but I've found that most of the time, the general descriptions are pretty darn accurate. I'm on the cusp of Taurus and Gemini... and sometimes it REALLY shows through lol)

I'm right at the tail end of Leo (lol, pun) but after that is Virgo...
