The force wasn't with me on this one, but I really wanted to do a picture since it's reading week, and I won't have time again for a long while. I made three versions before this one. I originally intended to have the mare leaping up from a flock of birds, with flying white birds surrounding her. I couldn't find stock for it despite hours of searching. I ended up playing with reflections and shadows, to see what it might look like if a subject has both. I also thought it would be interesting to paint a backlit mane and tail. Lol, after I resized the image, the fonts got all wonky so I had to write the credits by hand. It was also a lot of fun painting the knabstrupper spots! The horse was white to start with.

Anyway, so there are doves and there is a crow in this picture, to show how her fate could go either way. The open space and the lightbeam is her newfound freedom.

I know the composition isn't the greatest and the background a bit cliche, but I think her personality came through this pretty well. She looks like a captive horse turned wild, with the world ahead of her.
