Description Another month, another chance to go to the mines.  And for Thorn, it meant another buffet!  He charged in ahead, leaving Night, Reef and Opal in the dust.  Thorn wasn't going to waste any of his precious limited time here "walking".  That was for slow chumps.

Opal looked between Thorn and Night, wondering which was her priority to please the most.  Night clearly had the most power being a human, but Thorn was his most trusted pokemon.  She could influence Thorn to influence Night without either of them realizing it.  "I'll go check on Thorn," Opal told Night.  She sprinted forward to keep up with the charging Cufant.

And then, it was just Night, Reef and a little pink egg.  Reef hugging Night in his unrelenting grip as Night slowly walked down the mine's passage.  Reef looked around "So last time, you and Thorn found a lot of pretty crystals, right?"

"Yeah," Night answered, the sweet Tentacool calming his nerves of the seemingly abandoned mines.  The little pink egg rest in Night's hand, his body heat keeping it warm.  "Though Thorn ate most of them."

"That's Thorn for ya!" Reef cheered, nuzzling into Night.  "I wonder when we'll come across some crystals.  I bet they'll be so pretty!  Maybe we can even make some friendship bracelets!"

Night walked deeper into the brown rock walls.  Finally, after about five minutes, he could hear Thorn and Opal.  The loud sound of trunk chipping away at stones and crystals, and the loud crushing chewing of rocks was unmistakable.

Thorn was shoveling gemstones and rocks into his mouth as fast a a bowl of popcorn.  Only one problem.  Mining the walls for gems was taking forever.  "Hurry up Opal, I'm hungry."

"Apologies your majesty," Opal almost wanted to smack Thorn in the face for his arrogance.  He was turning out to be a very annoying pokemon to be around.  Bossy, demanding, lazy.  The one thing that actually got to Opal was how impatient he was.  She took in a breath, it was worth getting onto his good side.  "I need to learn a move that will allow me to break the rocks quicker," Opal flashed a fake smile and chuckled.  Please, don't let Night ever get another Thorn again.

Meanwhile Reef was taking in the sight of an endless array of crystals against the brown mine walls. "Ooo, pretty" Reef gushed starry eyed at all the crystals that shone all the sparkly colors of he rainbow.  "So," Reef asked, "How are we going to get them out of the wall?"

"With this trusty pic-" Night reached for his pant belt.  There was no pic-axe there.  "I forgot the pickaxe..."

"Oh no, I guess we have to go back and get it," Reef said defeated.

"Yeah..." Night brushed his foot against the stony floor, thumb running over the small pink egg in his hand.

"Wait," Reef perked up, I've got an idea!"  Reef spat out a sickly purple substance.  The acid began to eat away at the rock, slowly revealing the gem lodged into the wall until it gave way, and fell to the ground with a clank.

Sparkles and Webby were wandering around the city.  "Do you see it?  Do you see it?" Webby demanded of the Aron.

"Girl, like, I keep telling you.  If I found it I would tell you."  Sparkles was all for helping her pink Zubat friend, but this search has been beginning to wear on her.  Webby being a Zubat, had no eyes herself.  She could echolocate to find objects like her necklace, but she couldn't be sure if it was the same pink rock with a heart painted onto it.  Thus, the endless asking of whether Sparkles saw it again.

They have been searching for a week.  No signs of the pink rock.  Sparkles growled, "Enough already!" Sparkles yelled, her temper erupting like volcano that had been building up.  "We've been searching for days!  Why can't you just get another rock?!"

Webby began squealing "I-I've had that rock my entire life!  You of all people know how much it means to me."

"I know your rock is important, but, I've been searching and searching for you and we've found nothing!  I'm just, I'm just done."  Sparkles began to run off, tension headache building up in her skull.

"Come back Sparkles!" Webby squealed, tears welling up in her mouth.  Webby flew after her friend, who was storming off.  The hike was long as the two made it back to their home cave.

Sparkles wasn't particularly fond of the humans at the entrance to her home.  Like, it's a cave, it was so silly of humans to put their doors in front of everything.  Sparkles learned it was best just to run by.  The guards never did much to local mine pokemon entering or exiting.  Webby chased her not that far behind.

Sparkles stormed deeper and deeper into the mines.  Headed directly into her home.  She didn't care about any Tentacool, or weird human holding a pink rock.  Wait, pink rock?  Sparkles backed up.  Yep, this was it.  "You've got to be kidding me!" she yelled, letting all her rage out.  They searched Ironridge all week just for the rock to be here.

Night jumped and gasped in surprise.  Reef squeezed tighter onto Night.

"Sparkles!  Come back!" Webby gurgled, her zubat tears collecting as excess spit in her mouth.

"Webby, I found your rock."  Sparkles let out a huge sigh, looking at the strange rock she and Webby have been going insane searching for.

"My rock!  Where is it?" Webby began letting out high pitched waves.  She listened to the shape of everything.  She furrowed her brows in confusion.  Where was her rock.  "Where is it, I can't sense it."

Sparkles squinted at the human.  How to get the rock back?  What was her plan of attack.  She arched down, and wiggled her behind, ready to pounce.

Sparkles lept forward.  Night stumbled back.  Reef growled, and let out a jet of bubble beam.  Sparkles recoiled back from the water splashing against her rocky skin.

Webby's heart started racing.  Where was her rock?  Why was Sparkles fighting the human?  She was confused.  She panicked, Webby let out high pitched screeches.  She didn't think it though.  The echos hummed through Sparkles' skull.  Reef scrunched down into Night, Night rose his arms up to his ears, trying to block out the sound he couldn't quite hear.

"R-Reef, can you use another bubble-" he looked down at the little Tentacool.  He was squeezing onto Night.  Reef wasn't up for more battling, that was okay.  Think, think,  Thorn was with Night.  Night looked deeper into the mines and called out "Thorn!  Opal!"

Thorn's ear perked up unamused.  What could be worth interrupting his feast.  Opal's head snapped over to the call.  Wild pokemon were attacking her trainer.  This was her chance to shine!  Her chance to gain Night's trust.  Opal began running in.  With a flick of her tail, gems began materializing around the shining blue one on her head.  They circled, then flew at the Zubat and Aron.  One power gem was enough for the Zubat, so Opal focused the majority of her attack at the Aron.

Thorn finally looked towards the commotion.  Wait, where did the Aron come from.  Thorn began stampeding over.  There was no way he was letting an Aron take his place.

Meanwhile in the mines, Cob was worrying about his sister.  She had lost her special necklace, and she frantically searched everywhere for it.  She has had it forever, it meant so much to her.  Yet Cob never liked how often she ran off out of the mines.  Who knew what was out there.  What if one day she never returned?  Cob had always been too scared to go outside the mines.  Yet Webby went outside with her friend Sparkles nearly everyday.  She hasn't gone missing yet so maybe he shouldn't worry.

And that's went he heard the faint traces of Webby's super sonic.

Panic fluttered throughout Cob's body.  His sister was in trouble.  Why else would she use a move like super sonic?  He began flying towards the noise?  Was this really a good idea?  Of course not, but, did he really have a choice?  His sister was in trouble, and he would never forgive himself if he didn't at least try to help her.

The scene Cob heard was overwhelming.  Sparkles and Webby were on the ground.  There was a human, and pokemon he didn't know the names of, large pokemon, following the human.  Cob's little Zubat heart pounded.  This was the legend of humans he had always feared.  They showed up with mutiple strong pokemon and could do anything they wanted to.

"L-leave my sister alone!" he shrieked, attempting to sound intimidating, but only having his voice crack in the process.

Cob was powerless to see Thorn charging forward.  "You aren't getting past me on my watch!" Thorn yelled charging right towards the Aron.

Night's hand shook.  Was this a misunderstanding.  He had to stop Thorn.  "Thorn wait!" Night tried walking towards his best friend.  There wasn't time to think.  Thorn was going to do something reckless if he didn't do anything.

Blinded by rage, Thorn charged forward.  Wait, why was Night in front of him?  There wasn't enough time to stop.  He was going to crash.  Opal jumped in, trying to prevent the crash.  She used fakeout.  Thorn reeled back and fell over.

"C-can s-someone tell me, what-" Night's voice trailed off, fear making it hard to speak.

"Please explain what this Aron and pink zubat were doing attacking master Night?" Opal inquired, becoming Night's trailing off voice.

This was all almost too much for Cob to handle.  But he had to save his sister Webby and her friend Sparkles.  "Well, you have her special rock, and, well, she's been searching everywhere for it."

Reef was still tugging onto Night, shooken by Thorn's actions.  Night spoke up "W-what i-is this rock?" he asked.

"It's that pink rock with a heart on it," Cob answered, "The one in your hand."

"Rock?  This is an egg," Night gently moved his thumb over the egg.  It had to be an egg, right? "We fought a Poochyena over it.  H-he wanted to eat it.  B-but I, well, Thorn and I protected it."

Webby slowly got up, shaking off the pain in her stomach.  That rock really hit a lot out of her.  But, her rock.  Her special rock was so close.  "That sounds like my rock.  It has the same hole in it that I use to put a string through it.  I doubt most eggs have like that." Webby flew over to touch it with her wing, "It feels like my rock.  XD did someone seriously like try to eat my rock."

"Yeah..."  Was, it actually a rock?  This entire time of Night trying to keep the egg warm, was it all for nothing?

Webby scooped the pink rock up into her wings.  Forgetting to fly, she fell to the ground, rock in wings.  Sparkles also got up.  "It was that easy?  I thought humans were like unreasonable.  But I guess this is like a nice twist"

"Thank you for finding my rock, I thought like, we were separated for eternity," Webby hugged her rock.  Cob let out a big sigh of relief, fight avoided.

Anger brewed inside of Thorn.  His feast was interrupted for this?  But what about Night.  He wasted Thorn's time.  Grr!  Thorn stomped his feet.  "You interrupted my feast for this!  This nothing!  I'll-"

Opal quickly interjected, "Come my king, I'll get you some more crystals for your feast.  You can take out any pent up rage on the walls."  Opal flicked her tail towards the walls.

Thorn stomped his foot, "You think you can boss me around like that.  Why I'll" Thorn began stomping.

"Thorn!" Night ran up to to his best friend.  "S-sorry Thorn."

Thorn punched a hole in the wall next to him and yelled.  He furiously began eating.  Opal squinted, be less directly bossy, got it.

"Angry much?" Sparkles snarked, just, at her limit for today after the long search.

Thorn charged forward at Sparkles.  "Stop!" Night attempted to jump in the way.  Both Sparkles, Night and Reef were sent reeling back.  They hit the floor and the ground.

Webby flinched in fear, Cob flinched back, Sparkles had fainted.

Thorn noticed Night on the ground.  All of Thorn's anger turned to horror.  "Night!"  He rushed to Night's side.

Reef started crying in pain.  The force of being knocked back hurt.  Night began to get up.  The situation was overwhelming.  Reef was hurt, new people were here, Thorn was mad.  Night got onto his knees and covered his ears  "W-what do I do!" he screamed through tears, the pain on his back was the least of his worries.

This was Opal's chance!  She could gain trust in this vulnerable moment.  "Does Night have any healing items on him?"

"I don't know!" Thorn rashly shouted out.

Night dug through his jacket, "I have a potion."

"Use it on Reef.  How about we go to the pokemon center, get Aron healed up, then enjoy a treat at a restruant?"

Night let Reef fall into his arms in front of him.  He petted the Tentacool, Reef flinched, Night used his only potion on Reef.  It stung a bit, but Reef felt slightly better.  "That's, that's a good plan."  Night looked over to Webby, "I-is that okay?"

Cob flew up to his sister, "Hey, can I speak with my sis for a bit," Cob huddled with her into a corner.

"What is this about?" she asked.

"I don't trust this human.  He just charged in here and brought that strong pokemon that hurt Sparkles." Cob whispered.

"You're like, over reacting Cob," Webby replied, "I mean, it's like free food.  Human food at that.  It's like, really good," Webby's mouth started drooling, "Sure that one mon's got a tude problem, but the human seems sorry enough about it," Webby lifted the rock in her wings, "Plus, he found my special rock!  Besides, look at how friendly everyone else is!"

Webby and Cob turned back to see Reef throwing a tantrum.  "WHAT THE HECK THORN?  WHY DID YOU RUIN THAT HUG?" Reef and Thorn were bickering in a furrious debate, both refusing to let their anger go.

"Um..." Okay, a bit harder of a sell, but it was probably just like a really bad day, "We'll totally come!" Webby said, wing around her brother, "let me just," Webby fiddled with her rock.  Using her fur, she braided a rope using her wings, and slid the string through the hole she had made in the rock.  She then slid it over her head.  Webby was back in business!

"First of all we should like, get Sparkles to the pokemon center."

"B-but." Night held an empty pokeball in his hand.  "I-is this okay.  I-I'll release her if she wants."

"Don't worry Night, it's like totally okay.  We've been like, looking for a trainer anyway," Webby answered, "Outside these mines are just like, so exiting!"

--------------------------------------

A trip to the mines ends up with mutiple pokemon joining the team.  I was originally intending for Sparkles to only be in a bad mood, but now that this is her first appearance my mind has her being more snarky overall.

These are both for different digging for riches prompts.
