It's noisy because it was dark. There's nothing you could do about it, however well you knew cameras - except by using a very long exposure, for which you'd definitely need a tripod. It's not a problem, anyway - it looks more real this way, eyes see noise in the dark, too. It's a very nice shot. Where is this building?
