Description Chizuru is a smug ninja who uses fire magic. She fights with claws and katars. Her claws are built into her gauntlets, so she can extend and retract them. She’s easily among the hardest hitting playable characters, plus she’s the fastest of the lot. Combined with strong magic, she’s intentionally supposed to be a little overpowered. However, her health and defenses aren’t particularly good. Depending on what you do, there’s a chance you’ll fight her after Damian at the end of the game, so in a way she can double as the final boss.

In retrospect, Chizuru probably wasn’t the best person to start with for doing sprites, as her weapons are fairly subtle, and she personally moves around a bit. Still, she was the one who I had ideas of how do to animations for first, so, yeah. I’ll probably have to add some more frames into some of these, but we’ll see.

It’s rather hard to tell exact placement, so I’ll try to explain a bit more on the rather unclear ones:
Her basic attack has her punching twice with her front hand, then doing a sort of quick uppercut with her back hand. She’s only slightly stepping forward with each punch. It’s probably my least favourite of the bunch.
For her critical (also used for some skills), she runs towards her target, sort of slides at them, then uppercuts and backflips off of them.
For her skills, she dashes forward, disappears for the duration of the skill animation, then reappears after the attack.
For dodge, she backdashes, then walking forward slightly, taunting a little while doing so.

For all her spells, I’ve added parts of a particular spell to make it more clear. Some animations are used for multiple spells, but I’ve tacked on a part of them for clarity; the power magic is Hellfire, which launches about 30 fireballs in rapid succession, not just five; the basic magic is of Inferno, but the general animation is shared with Corona and Heat Wave.

Some people will also have animations for Debuffing or Ailment spells, but since Chizuru lacks any, she doesn’t need sprites for them. The defense frame might also be used when hit with very small amounts of damage. I’m considering adding a victory pose, but I’m not sure if that end battle stuff gets its own screen or not. We’ll see.

I’m fairly satisfied with it as a whole as it is, but I wouldn’t say I’m entirely done it yet. I definitely think I’ll need to go back and add blurring effects to some attacks, especially her punches, as I’m thinking they’re kinda underwhelming as they are now. The two other things I certainly need to look at more are her face (she currently has the exact same expression at all times), and her cape. I’ll probably want to consider playing a bit more with her claws extending, too.
