    Sarah rang the doorbell again, and movement could be heard from inside. Finally, Nick opened the door. His glasses were slightly askew and his eyes were red. “Hello?” His eyes drifted downwards, widening when they settled on me. He tentatively brought his hands up as an expression of disbelief spread across his face. “O-oh my God.”
    I lifted a hand in his direction. “Nick.”
    He gingerly picked me up, as if I were an illusion he would dispel if he was too rough. When it was clear I wasn’t going anywhere, he clutched me close to his chest, smothering me against his jacket. His whole body shook, but it wasn’t clear if he was laughing or crying in his immense relief.
