Long before Peter Quill became so beloved thanks to James Gunn's 'Guardians of the Galaxy' films played by Chris Pratt, we had a very different version when he appeared in Marvel comics. Star-Lord debuted in January 1976, in Marvel Preview #4, published in black and white. Created by Steve Englehart and Steve Gan, in this debut edition Peter Quill had a very different personality, even from the interpretation Chris Claremont and John Byrne adopted shortly afterwards, in 1982 with 'Star-Lord: The Special Edition'. The intergalactic hero was tossed around during the following years at Marvel... "Star-Lord would later be reintroduced in Thanos #8 (2004) and this would eventually become the main Marvel universe (Earth-616) version of the character. All previous versions would be considered an alternate reality counterpart (Earth-791)." [ComicVine]
So, we have an alternate reality counterpart (Earth-791) brightening this edition with the label 'RETRO CLASSIC', sharing the space with none other than Adam Strange, a great hero (if not the greatest) of the DCU specialized in space adventures, who appeared in December 1958 in Showcase #17 and created by Gardner Fox and Julius Schwartz (in addition to Mike Sekowsky and Murphy Anderson).
