Description
This is my contribution to visualize H. P. LovecraftΒ΄s work. I allways wanted to paint the great Cthulhu, now itΒ΄s done! (but not as a comission - just for my pleasure)I didnΒ΄t want to show too much of him, because in Lovecrafts stories there are allways many things that he left to the readers imagination - so I wanted to do the same with this picture, and I wanted to capture a remindable scene from the story "call of cthulhu".
painted in two days with brushes and acrylics on canvas, ca. 40 cm x 58 cm
Edit: I've uploaded a new photo of the painting, because the old one was quite blurry in some areas.

I just got done reading this book for the first time and it was very interesting (gotta love the mad ship crew and their explaining about what they saw in Ryleh). Love your coloring here (if its one thing ive noticed with cthulhu fans they all know how to make use of the colors to set the scene @_@) and I think it was a great idea to not show too much for this picture since it was left murky to descriptions in the book.
I want to bring something up!

Great work, love the perspective the way Cthulhu is reaching for you. Just the right amount of him showing to give you the feel of the huge cyclopean terror, nice touch with faint outline of the wing in the background.

Very freaky. I have to admire the respect you've shown Lovecraft by keeping it vague like he did. I think that was a big party of the horror in his stories.
