This is WENDY MADISON, otherwise known as the WEATHERMAID.

Way back when she was a young girl, WENDY was the daughter of two scie tests named DR. PETER MADISON and DR. PAMELA MADISON. They were researchers who once worked for the PROTEUS CORPORATION, until they decided to.leave upon learning of the corruption behind the scenes. They struck out on their own, and developed an energy source that could effectively manipulate the weather. Their former employers were not happy about this, and thus sent out one of their cyborg experiments to intimidate them back to PROTEUS. Sadly the two scientists were killed while trying to resist the cyborg called METALOX, but before that young WENDY was knocked into the machine that could control the weather.

METALOX would have killed young WENDY had the masked hero known as NIGHTWONDER not appeared. He used his unusual strength to defeat the cyborg, then managed to save WENDY and bring her to his home. She would learn NIGHTWONDER was really FRED HASTINGS, a wealthy broadcasting executive who had a knack for engineering. He showed her a magic ring that bestowed upon him super strength, flight and near invulnerability, which helped in his war on crime. He was made her legal guardian due to FRED HASTINGS being a friend of the MADISON family, and it was also FRED HASTINGS whomlearnd that the machine had given WENDY some unusual abilities.

Suddenly WENDY could control the weather, and thus FRED helps her practice generating lightning and controlling the wind among other abilities. She told FRED she wanted revenge against METALOX, yet FRED refused to train her for such a thing, revenge was not his way despite his own origins and the reason he wore the ring. He promised her justice but only that, and thus she reluctantly agreed yet in time came to appreciate his ways and traditions.

WEATHERMAID became the sidekick of NIGHTWONDER when she was 14, and the two of them had many adventures together. Then she turned 18 and decided to set out on her own, where she decided to go to college and become a teacher. Her years with FRED inspired her to be a mentor to others, thus she gave it her all and eventually became a substitute teacher albeit disguised herself in a pony tail and glasses as to still operate as the WEATHERMAID. Her life is filled with its own challenges, yet NIGHTWONDER prepared her for a great deal of them.
