Description
This is princess Nefertari, before her marriage to Ramses II. Egyptologists speculate she was a daughter of Seti I, making her Ramesses' half sister.She was the first of Rameses' Great Royal Wives. Nefertari means 'beautiful companion'. She is one of the best known Egyptian queens, along with Cleopatra, Nefertiti, and Hatshepsut. She was educated and could read and write hieroglyphs, a rare skill that she used in her diplomatic work, corresponding with other prominent royals. Her lavishly decorated tomb is one of the largest and most spectacular in the Valley of the Queens. Ramesses also constructed a temple for her at Abu Simbel next to his colossal monument there. - Wikipedia
